Typhoon, terrorism and Gloria...

If I've been off line for two days, it's because we got hit by a typhoon and our telephone line got soaked...it's dry now.

Metro Manila: Monsoon rains.

Cebu: Monsoon rains.

Davao: Partly cloudy to cloudy with rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Sunrise — 5:42 a.m.
Sunset — 6:20 p.m.

Actually, it's Storm Huaning....which hit the north and is headed for southern China...

‘HUANING’ RAINS BRING FLOODS.
Motorists make their way through floodwaters in front of the Manila City Hall following rains brought by storm ‘Huaning.’ The floods in various parts of Metro Manila slowed down vehicular traffic and created pockets of traffic jams in the cities of Makati and Pasay. (Regie D. Mason)

We didn't have high winds here, merely two days of heavy rain...only knocked a few coconuts off our trees...and washed away some of the dirt and mosquito larvae in our open sewer ditches. So hopefully, this will decrease our Dengue fever epidemic...a couple kids died in our town of it, and lots of people sick. Every employee with a headache comes to me, but so far, they only have colds or stress/heat headaches, not the high fever and myalgia (muscle pain) of dengue (the rash comes later)...

We had just sprayed our ditches and cleared and sprayed the trash in the vacant lot we just bought...as a result, the cockroaches invaded our outdoor kitchen and storage areas, so we had to spray them...remind me not to eat...

In the meanwhile, a large bomb hit Zamboanga and killed 15...what, you didn't hear about it on the news? Guess only Baghdad bombs count, not AlQuada in the Philippines (0r in India, or in Thailand, or in Turkey, or in China or in Trinidad...)...

So what is the headlines in our beloved paper?

A nice headline saying we need a moratorium on politics (!) and a photo of Gloria...she is going to the UN next week to be the queen of whatever...our staff is cynical about all this, as is Lolo...after all, why worry about little things like graft, floods, typhoons, terrorism, disease, and an impending impeachment when you can show yourself off to the bigshots at the UN?
