The bigger story is that they were smuggled in, and not checked for disease, so the story notes this:
The animals are just one of many imports that escape adequate scrutiny or epidemiological control in Vietnam.

A recent survey alarmingly showed that most anti-malaria drugs - in Vietnam and other countries of the region - were fakes traced back to China.

it's not just the Heparin...
a lot of docs wonder about the relationship between the counterfeit drugs (which contain only small amounts of medicine) and the local malaria resistance that is causing worries....
