Korea Sparkling

We see lots of tourism ads on our cable TV stations, for Malaysia, for Singapore and even for the Philippines.

But right now, there is a new series of ads, called "Korea Sparkling".

To those of us who are older, Korea means Porkchop hill, not a modern country to visit on vacation.

Butthere are many ties between Korea and the Philippines. Here in the Philippines, there are many Korean tourists and students, at the beach at Borachay or in the cool pine city of Baguio. Also, many Pinoys work there, in factories or as English teachers (!).

But I don't know anyone who has just gone there as a tourist.

Planet Dianne
has a report of her visit there, with photos HERE.

Another big influence from Korea is soapoperas.

PlanetDianne mentions Korean TV dramas...they are played on our local stations during the day here, in Tagalog.
Think of a G (or PG) "days of our lives"...

.and the costume dramas such as "Jewel in the Palace" were on TV in the evening and a big hit.
