African news below the fold

Politician promises support, then disappears...so what else is new?
But Baldilocks, who has links with the locals, is asking for donations for the local school link

I'm leery about western reporters writing glowing reports about poor people using hand tools and buckets to grow stuff, (what, no pump? No rototiller? No wheelbarrel?)
but it points out two problems common to lands with food shortages: It's easier to import than to invest in local crops (and roads and infrastrcture needed to grow them) and two, that plantations disrupted traditional farming lands and people.
and note: China is taking over mines and building infrastructure that was neglected since the Belgiums left.

Buying back guns in Central Africa...the various wars there have killed millions, but rarely get in the news. So any spark of good news is welcome.

Zimbabwe agreement.... Will it work?

--------------------
White poverty in South Africa...well, yes. Not a new problem, but one that rarely gets reported.
