Family news: We are well

Here in the Philippines, it has been raining...and raining...and raining. We got hit by rain by the typhoon that hit the Manila area, and now we are getting rain and the water run off from the typhoon that hit Northern Luzon.
But today the sun is shining.
The Phil Inquirer story HERE.

We are just south of the mountains, so get the run off.

The spillways of the irrigation dams have already been opened to prevent the dams from collapsing, and people are on alert for flooding. The main problem in our area is the loss to agriculture.

But furthur north, which was hit twice by this second smaller typhoon, it is worse.

As of 10 p.m. Thursday it was located in the vicinity of Mountain Province and forecast to move west slightly.

And of course, mudslides are a worry, especially in areas where the slopes are denuded by illegal logging or illegal mining. And some of the roads up north are blocked by landslides and mud.

Our main problem is crop damage; But parts of Manila are still under water, and the Laguna lake region has whole towns under water.

And yes, the US Navy is here with supplies...more HERE.
(we have relative in the Navy, but he is back home now)
