In the US, I used to make my own yogurt, but haven't gotten into it here, probably because milk, even local carabao milk, is expensive.
Here in the Philippines, although they sell some yogurt at the supermarket, the local product pushed for health is Yakult, originally a Japanese product (our neighbor, a Seventh day Adventist, is the local distributer).
