lead and ancient Rome

link at my medical blog about why both ancient Rome and Beethoven suffered from lead poisoning: No, not the pipes, but because they boiled grape juice in lead kettles to concentrate it into syrup, to add to cheap wine and it was sweet because it resulted in a lot of  lead acetate.

The rest of the post was about heavy metal contamination of water in various cities of the USA.

But the post got eaten when I tried to post it, but never mind.

It's fiesta, and we've been busy eating and gossiping and meeting the new grandnephew and grandnieces.
