as an aside: Jim Henson died of Strep B sepsis.

The Strep germ is usually mild, but there have been outbreaks of the more serious form on and off. There were outbreaks in the 1940's, but then the disease became less serious, and penicillin was given all the time.

But then a new strain popped up in the 1980s, causing a couple of deaths, including Mr Henson.

one reason docs "overuse" antibiotics is because you see one case of this, and figure: Better safe than sorry. (Mr Henson didn't go for treatment early because he assumed it was the flu).
