Family news

Emie is better, but still weak after her high blood pressure problem. Luckily she didn't have a stroke, but does have some kidney damage, which the docs hope will stablize on a proper diet and control of blood pressure and diabetes.

Sigh.

Our cook, who is thin, has also been diagnosed with diabetes. Her husband died years ago from high blood pressure. Sigh.

It's getting to be hot, so deaths from these problems will go up. Sigh.

In other news, the (winter) rice harvest is almost over, and the crop was good.

We have two harvests: summer, which is rain fed (and can be destroyed if typhoons or heavy storms hit at harvest), and winter, which requires irrigation (i.e. more expensive and we can't use our high fields for a second crop).

As for me: everyone is busy so I sit at home most of the time, with the help and the dogs to keep me company.
