the news as usual is all bad, but this little excerpt from Strategy page shows that the good news is easily missed:

after discussing the suicide bomb attack on a Mogadishu theatre (an attempt to kill a VIP) the article mentions the city is recovering from the war:

The National Theater had been damaged and closed for two decades, but since al Shabaab had been driven out of Mogadishu last year, the economy has revived and construction, and reconstruction can be seen all over the city
