Killings in the Philipines

LINK2
Summary: GMA is trying to clean up the NPA.
Killings are blamed on both sides...
But farmers killed who back the NPA were probably killed by government hit squads. Some ex communists were probably killed by the NPA.
And then there are the soldiers, mayors and barangay leaders assasinated by the NPA...
And then we have people like my nephew, killed by an NPA hitman who was hired to kill the owner of the cockpit, and was probably hired by a rival businessman...
This "fuzzyness" in murder explains "amoks" like the son who killed two barangay leaders at his father's wake...

The talk tv seems to think a new commission will be a whitewash...given the confusion and complexity, one sees little hope for justice...

And before Americans point fingers, think of all of this as the war on drugs. How many pushers go to jail while the kingpins continue to kill and the banks that cooperate with the laundering of drug money hob nob with politicians?

Oh well...we might have to be inspected by the Army when we visit our farm, but in a nearby area the push means that maybe the roads will be fixed...link
