The researchers created a chimaeric virus, made up of a surface protein of SHC014 and the backbone of a SARS virus that had been adapted to grow in mice and to mimic human disease. The chimaera infected human airway cells — proving that the surface protein of SHC014 has the necessary structure to bind to a key receptor on the cells and to infect them.

a physician noticed a cluster of cholera cases, traced the outbreak to a certain public water pump, and saved hundreds of lives by simply removing the pump handle so people had to get water from other sources.

easy peasy, and like Galileo, his findings were immediately accepted by the medical community, right?

the problem was that people were using contaminated water, but back then the theory was that the disease was caused by "miasma": the smell and fumes of rotting garbage, tanneries etc.

The idea that it might be the water, not the stinky air, as the cause of cholera was not understood... until Dr Snow traced a cluster of cases to one area, and figured what they all had in common was that they all got their drinking water from the same public pump

So he figured it was not the smell but the water was bad, removed the pump, and slowed the epidemic.

Such problems continue in today's world: The most notorious was when, after the Hatian earthquake, UN Peacekeepers from Nepal built their latrines too close to a rives, so the germs flowed into the river. The problem? The normal water supply pipes had broken, so people downstream were using river water for drinking.

Ironically, people in the ancient world sort of figured this out, which is why they rarely drank pure water: in one famous passage,  Paul tells Timothy to mix wine with his water "for his stomach's sake"...  

so anyway, at the time Dr Snow removed the pump handle, he was able to publish his findings, even though the germ theory was not a popular theory of disease.

Snow's On the Mode of Communication of Cholera, first published in 1849, set out the then radical idea that cholera was a disorder of the digestive system not the blood; and that it was contagious and spread through the oral-faecal route, largely through contaminated drinking water.  

Snow's intervention in Broad Street, Soho, in 1854, when he persuaded the authorities to remove the handle from a contaminated pump well, has caught the public imagination, but it was his “Grand Experiment” that same year that secured his huge reputation in epidemiology.

 

During Britain's second cholera epidemic in 1848–49, both the Lambeth and the Southwark and Vauxhall water companies were taking their supplies from the Thames next to where the London sewers were discharged. By the time of the 1854–55 epidemic, however, Lambeth had moved its works up riverout of reach of the sewage. Here, Snow saw, was the perfect means of testing his theory. He compared the numbers of cholera victims whose water was supplied by the two different companies in 1848–49 with the numbers in 1854–55. During 1848–49, the death rates for the two companies were the same, but by 1854, after Lambeth's move, Southwark and Vauxhall's rate was between eight and nine times higher, and in the first 4 weeks of the epidemic, Southwark and Vauxhall customers had a 14-fold higher risk. Again he was largely ignored, although by then the idea that polluted water had some part to play in cholera was gaining ground.

And Dr. Campbell notes that this is in contrast to the censorship of Covid's origins, ignoring/censoring voices that questioned the epidemiological response to the disease, and of allowing poorly analyzed articles that led to the banning cheap medicines that might or might not have worked.

This is a terrific choice; Dr. Bhattacharya is highly respected and was right about the negative effects of lockdowns during the COVID pandemic when so many others were wrong. He didn't back down despite numerous attempts to silence him.

His opinions were censored, and this meant few realized the problems: Mainly that the economic shutdown was causing more problems than ordinary quarantine, and later about the problems of the vaccines.

the economic damage to third world countries was huge: People here were afraid to go to the hospital so died at home of other things, cancer patients delayed treatment, and a lot of money spent for testing our drivers to deliver rice to Manila made our profit selling rice lower and probably increased the price of food, leading to malnutrition.

Omicron pretty well stopped the epidemic, and most of the use of masks etc was stopped. 

But the huge outlay of money for protective equipment, quarantine, etc. meant less money for other things, such as spraying for mosquitoes: so we now have a Dengue epidemic going on.

I am no fan of Dr. Fauci, but when Dr Paul questioned him about the six foot distancing, Fauci said he made it up.

Actually, droplets of saliva etc can be spread 6 feet plus with coughing and sneezing.

when we were in medical school, we were told that masking essentially kept us from spraying saliva into the patient's wounds during surgery. But of course, unless you use a close fitting specialized mask it doesn't protect you from germs (although it might keep dust etc out of your lungs if you have asthma, and heavy work masks keep out particulate matter like paint spray and dust).

anti maks types point out that a mask won't stop a virus. They miss the point: the virus isn't floating by itself. It is embedded in moisture from breathing, talking, coughing or sneezing, and the mask does catch these particles so you don't give it to others. Yes, a handkerchief also does this, but then the droplets get on your hands and spread that way.

that said, I think the repeated shots of covid to low risk people is absurd, My granddaughter has had four boosters and will have to get another one to teach a seminar in the USA this summer. Why? The booster makes her sick for two to three days, so it's not like she doesn't have problems with getting the shot.

the overkill of covid policy is making folks forget the toxicity from the early epidemic: vaccines are a cost/benefit ratio decision.

Early in the epidemic two local nurses who were pregnant refused the vaccine, because social media rumors said that it could cause miscarriages: one died (7 months pregnant) the other survived covid but the baby was born premature with covid and died.

So maybe their decision was wrong.

But now we are reading about the covid shots causing problems with pregnancy and fertility. So the fake news might have been more accurate than the official news?

Yet as studies are leaking out about side effects, one does wonder about a coverup.

Here in the Philippines the disastrous Dengue vaccine episode was one reason that the DOH refused to sign a non liability agreement, so we didn't get the mRNA vaccines for months. I got the AZ vaccine in August, but by then we knew about the blood clot problem, so it was only given to elders and high risk people who were at risk of dying from pulmonary problems.

here the worst part of the epidemic was from April 21 to April 22.

the Omicron varient hit here in December.

yet once omicron hit, and herd immunity kicked in, the hysterical push for vaccine, isolation, etc. was overkill  nonsense. And giving shots to kids who are low risk is nonsense, especially when they rarely die of it.

And now there are reports that various vaccines had side effects and this was covered up.

The reaction to what many think was a bad public health policy will result in lack of trust in the public health sector. Sigh.

and suspicion that the vaccines cause an immunity problem leading to premature deaths from other diseases like cancer etc. is only now being debated.

and now some question about government employees making money from patents they held on treatments. 

It makes one wonder if this might be why they didn't allow ivermectin or HCQ treatment, and only quoted flawed studies (i.e. given late in the course of treatment) that showed they didn't work, so they could push their drug and make money.

and the coverup of vaccine side effects, and the increase in death rates from all sorts of diseases, is making some people suspicious of the entire kerfuffle.

here is the justification:

in the National Guard, we had classes in how HIV would affect the readiness of the military, and our federal IHS clinic was given instructions after 911 on how to do ring vaccinations in case the terrorists released smallpox.

This work, which is essentially wargaming possible threats, is done to prepare for such disasters (not to plan the attacks, as real conspiracy theory crazies claim).

but it is a thin line between allowing research to protect you, and giving money to research that is dangerous, or to scientists who naively don't understand the danger of what they are doing.

these were indeed a lot of side effects reported in the medical literatures but not well publicized because it was feared people might not get the shot.

A lot of kerfuffle about the AZ vaccine (not the mRNA) causing blood clots, but I remember reading about that when I got the AZ vacccine in summer 2021. The rate of clots was highest in young men and lower in elders, so the Philippines only gave that vaccine to elders and high risk folk (at a time when people were dying of Covid pneumonias). Our staff got the Chinese sinovax, even though by then studies in Indonesia showed it was not very good. The problem with the mRNA vaccine are twofold: One: new technology. Two A lot of the side effects seem to be from the covid spike protein and can be from actual infection. Three, of course, is that once omicron varient hit, there was no logical reason to continue getting boosters, except maybe in nursing homes.

But when Biden places the granmom killer Levine as a high level decision maker in the PHS, it shows no one took that problem seriously.

There was a delay in getting the mRNA vaccine here because the DOH would not sign the paperwork that included a non liability agreement. But I guess they relented because later they used it for kids to reopen the sshools.

So did we have covid shot related deaths? well, one of the problems is that when young men die suddenly , we blame bangugot. sudden death syndrome, which alas is common here. So over the last 3 years we had two teenagers found dead in bed. Cause? And one Japanese/Filipino living here, who was an alcoholic, also died. Bangugot or hemorrhagic pancreatitis?

And then there is the daugther of one of our farmers, who is paralyzed. The local docs could find no reason, so sent her home, and the county is helping her with medical expsnses. But I wonder: it sounds like this disease, which is usually caused by a virus, and I have seen several cases in the USA when I was in practice. However, it also could be a complication of the mRna Covid shot. That article was published in Sept 2021...

 the authors are discussing one case they diagnosed, and they do note that covid the disease itself causes these problems.

in other words, a lot of problems from the various vaccines were noted in the medical literature by late 2021. Yet writing about such things was discouraged because it increase the distrust of vaccine, and when people stop taking vaccines, you get people dying of a preventable disease.

Don't ask me: ironically I heard about such things on conspiracy sites but not in the medical literature, although I must admit that since my husband died, I have not kept up to date with the medical literature.

Another conspiracy theory starting to get the notice of Congress is about Ecohealth. trying to get money to refund the Wuhan lab. Those nasty Republicans promptly pounced on the story (/s).

in related news: Awhile back, Ecohealth was seeking to establish a laboratory here in the Philippines to investigate diseases in wild animals that might spread to humans.

The problem? Some leftists in the congress here found out about it and objected to it, because it was funded by the US Dept of Defense. 

Since then it has not been in the news, but checking the grant site, it appears that none of the money has been spent on the project, so apparently our good congressfolk have stopped it.

We have all sorts of problems with animal disease here, everything from an epidemic of Footandmouth disease and other animal epidemics during the American takeover that caused a famine to the outbreak of ebola Reston in some pigs in a nearby piggery that spread to four agri workers (but didn't make them very sick). 

But this lab sounded like they were seeking for new viruses, and the link to the US DOD make it seem like it was to find new germs for germ warfare.

on the other hand, when China steals the traditional fishing grounds from the Philippines (an area that has possible petroleum reserves) and destroys the ecosystem there, you have to realize that the alternative is to let China take over the region, which is of course their long term goal.

But unlike VietNam, the Philippines was never part of China: you could argue that it was part of the Caliphate, not part of China, and the last time some Chinese (pirates) tried a takeover was during the ming dynasty, and the Spanish with the help of the locals thru them out.

There is a lot of antagonism in SE Asia against China because the Chinese ethnics tend to monopolize business, and the rich families who are the oligarchy who run the Philippines are often descended from Chinese traders who intermarried local women (traditionally foreigners can't own businesses, so they marry a local woman and put it all in her name).

But there is a lot of resentment in poorer locals about this. And some of it is true, because in Asia, families only trust those in their family, which make it hard for outsiders to succeed. So often the middle class will migrate to other countries where they succeed more easily. 

What is different in recent years in the Philippines is the ties between Christian (protestant) businessmen, who trust each other and help each other.

This Asian clanishness in business is the story behind the massacre of the Chinese in Indonesia (not the CIA) and the expelling of the Chinese from communist Viet Nam. The Chinese are similar to the Jews in Europe or the Indians in parts of Africa: They enter the country and improve the area, and end up running the economy but never quite assimilate so locals object to that.

And of course, this has long term implications for China's expansion into Africa, which I sort of support, but when I see them doing the same mistakes as they did elsewhere (not hiring and mixing with locals) I suspect in the long term they too will be thrown out by locals when locals get angry enough. Or as the African proverb says: Even a little snake has a fang.

translation: If someone was thought to have covid, they were given a tranquilizer to lower their anxiety but sometimes no other treatment... Of course, this tranquilizer would depress their ability to breathe, meaning it would result in them dying.

in treating such patients, there is a fine line between relieving their anxiety and causing respiratory depression, so sometimes this happens. But was a deliberate overdose given with the object to kill?

Ethically you can give pain relief and anti anxiety relief to the dying even with this risk. '

I was once accused by one nurse of overdosing one such dying patient: but when I checked him, he was moaning in pain. So I gave a dose that relieved the pain but his breathing rate went down to 8/minute but did not stop. So I had to titrate him to keep his breathing rate over 8 but not so low that he was in pain....What finally helped was a pastor who prayed over him, and he calmed down and died peacefully a few hours later without having to push extra narcotics to relieve his suffering.

However, with covid, you are not giving narcotic pain relief but anti anxiety medicine.

And the medicine cited causes respiratory depression in higher doses: in people already low in oxygen from pneumonia this can be fatal. However, relieving the suffering from air hunger is important, and can save a life because anxiety increases your oxygen consumption.

and there are traquillizers that do not slow the breathing.

 and I have read some of these deaths were when doctors being phoned about a patient with covid and would just order  the tranquillizer but no other medicine (prednisone, antibiotics).

This will have to be looked into because in the UK, there was a protocol for people with severe pain from cancer, but it was found that this was ordered for people with non fatal diseases or when the cancer was not terminal.

the dirty little secret is that once euthanasia becomes a treatment, then making someone dead is not seen as bad: and the elders, handicapped and critically ill are all at risk from medical staff that sees death as an optional treatment.

there is also a question if the ventillators were overused. But that is another question for another time.

Loss of trust and other side effects of covid policies

This video discusses one side effects of the covid quarantine policies: missed routine childhood vaccines, and we now have an epidemic of whooping cough.

I suspect we have it in our area, because the cook has come to me asking to give money to one of the neighbors because their kid had "Broncho" and needs to go to the hospital/clinic for treatment.

But whooping cough right now is spreading in other countries. But then it never really goes away because  adults, who have a mild version of the disease. can spread it to babies who are more vulnerable to get a severe case.

I have seen two cases of whooping cough in my patients in the USA: Both had missed their shots because they were sick (one with reflux related pneumonia the other with wheezing post RSV). The problem is that the routine antibiotics don't work: You have to use something in the Erythromycin family (e.g. azithromycin) instead of the penicillin/amoxicillin/cephalosporins which don't work.

One clue to the disease: A very high wbc. This is important since to get a routine test for pertussis in our rural area would have taken days.

Years ago, the vaccine for pertussis/cough vaccine had a rare but serious side effect of brain damage. In the UK, this got a lot of publicity so parents refused the vaccine and voila, a pertussis epidemic with several deaths. Luckily, the Japanese had just developed an acellular pertussis vaccine that didn't have the problem, and that solved the problem. Except for one thing: It didn't give as strong an immune responses. And since pertussis was still present (probably in adults whose immunity had waned and who had few symptoms) babies who hadn't yet received the vaccine could still catch it.

 I have written several articles about vaccines and the overreach for power that was behind the covid shutdown.

By censoring physicians who questioned the so called experts, it resulted in the hysterics taking over the discussion of problems. The good news: The problems finally got discussed. The bad news: The problems were taken out of context, and this resulted in a decrease in trust in so called authorities.

For covid? A lot of people died of this, something that is now being forgotten, and not all the deaths were in elders.

The problem? Yes the quarantine was needed, but not for two years.

As I have noted earlier: The anti covid shot hysteria is not big here, because we used all sorts of vaccines and only got the mRNA vaccine late in 2021 because the DOH would not sign a no liability papers. But as soon as various covid vaccines became available, most folk took these shots. The AZ and later the  Yankee shots which worked better to prevent the disease were given to high risk folk. I got the AZ ... I was aware of the blood clot problem: so it was not given to young folk because of this.  Our younger staff got the Chinese Sinovax, which essentially didn't work, but hey better than nothing. And since Omicron hit, few here are getting boosters.  

In other words, the mRNA vaccines were touted as lifesaving, which they were, but they didn't work very well after a few months and needed more and more boosters. And probably the same problem was seen with other vaccines.

So essentially (thanks to omicron and herd immunity) the disease burnt itself out and although it is still around, like influenza one can live with the problem.

So yes I support vaccines 

but no, I didn't get any more boosters for covid.

One has to remember: nothing in life is perfect.

When patients asked about rare side effects of vaccines or medicines, I would tell them yes these things happen but they are rare. Then I would ask how they got to the office, and most admitted they drove their car. So I would point out that there was a danger that on the way home they might be killed in a car wreck, and that life is risky.

Silencing doctors who have expertise as if they were paranoid anti vaxers has been the real problem of the covid policies.

Which is why the WHO's policies for the next epidemic will be seen as a power grab instead of good policy to stop disease.

his website has been following the documents for awhile. Here is an example: March 20,2024: even before the details of the treaty was released, the usual suspects approved of it.

The devil is in the details: 

 As countries now enter what should be the final stages of the negotiations, they must ensure that they are agreeing on actions which will do the job required: to prevent and mitigate pandemic threats.

it implies that all countries will have to go along with the decisions on what to do, but the big question is: who decides what actions need to be done.

We urge solutions which ensure both speed in reporting and sharing pathogens, and in access – in every country – to sufficient tools like tests and vaccines to protect lives and minimise harm.

The public and private sectors must work together towards the public good.

Uh oh:

This global effort is being threatened by misinformation and disinformation.

translation: censorship of those who say wait a second. 

Among the falsehoods circulating are allegations that the WHO intends to monitor people’s movements through digital passports; that it will take away the national sovereignty of countries; and that it will have the ability to deploy armed troops to enforce mandatory vaccinations and lockdowns. All of these claims are wholly false and governments must work to disavow them with clear facts

 uh, maybe the reason some folks think they will do these things is that they did this for covid. 

And a lot of people now think that it was overkill, causing economic damage, diverting resources from preventing other diseases, (dengue because no money to spray for mosquitos, rabies deaths because people threw out their dogs because they couldn't afford to feed them) and folks not getting routine care so they die of ordinary preventable diseases, (Cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes).

and it was the WHO and other experts who essentially instructed the Philippines what to do. 

in summary: the overblown shut down of the world economy to stop the covid virus is now being seen as less wise than a short shutdown and routine isolation of cases. 

And the censorship of opinions and possible treatments has resulted in pushback against these WHO experts.

Like the boy who cried wolf, the problem is that if a real pandemic happened, people will just ignore what they are told by these experts.

Once trust is lost, it will take awhile until it is reformed.

We saw this in the Philippines after the Dengue vaccine experiment that killed some kids: a lot of parents refused routine shots that have been around for fifty years, so we had more kids die of measles etc. because the parents no longer trusted the public health authorities.

One state, Oregon, and reports of 40 cases, and all cases were early in the epidemic. June 2021 to Dec 2022... But a lot of the reports in the press were after second or third boosters.

reality check: There are other ways to inform people (the use of cassettes with religious sermons was how the Ayatolla got rid of the Shah, who had jailed all the leftists and censored their complaints in the news). 

But allowing freedom of speech and freedom of religious opinions is the basis of the US Bill of Rights, and is needed for a free society.

This is not a one sided attempt of censorship (see previous post about boogiewoogiegate). 

So this is a normal geopolitic tactic.

What is new is how this censorship program was extended to not allow ordinary medical discussions about covid policies and treatments.

when I worked in Africa, we knew the Soviet Union spread anti vax propaganda and lies (including anti vax stuff that got doctor giving out vaccines killed). So there is a reason for the CIA etc. to push the US point of view and help grass roots medical institutions in their public health work.

But when the national security state pushes the idea that the Covid virus didn't come out of a Chinese lab leak, gets a major medical journal to post an article signed by "experts" saying this, and later censors experimental cheap medicines (e.g. Ivermectin) while pushing other experimental cheap medicines and vaccines, I suggest that such things are outside their area of expertise.

a lot of this is geopolitical censorship. Heck, what else is new.

but what is new is the covid censorship media project

There's over 60 universities now who get federal government grants to do the censorship work ...They did this, for example, with COVID. They created these COVID lexicons of what dissident groups were saying about mandates, about masks, about vaccines, about high profile individuals like Tony Fauci or Peter Daszak or any of these protected VIPs and individuals whose reputations had to be protected online.

And they created these code books, they broke things down into narratives. The Atlanta Council, for example, was a part of this government funded consortium, something called the Virality Project, which mapped 66 different narratives that dissidents we're talking about around covid, everything from COVID origins to vaccine efficacy.

And then they broke down these 66 claims into all the different factual sub claims. And then they plugged these into these essentially machine learning models to be able to have a constant world heat map of what everybody was saying about covid. And whenever something started trend that was bad for what the Pentagon wanted or was bad for what Tony Fauci wanted, they were able to take down tens of millions of posts. 

it is bad enough to use such things (dirty politics is not new: Caesar was killed because the propaganda persuaded folk he wanted to be king). But when a government uses their power to censor their opponents, and works with the social media to do such censorship, then democracy is in danger.

And of course, the bias in covid coverage, even in medical journals, has resulted in people just not trusting these institutions.

Sigh. 

Psychological warfare: Covid and Cordwainer Smith

for watching later. This is government manipulation, but manipulation of news and of course the advertisement culture is part of this. So medical journals censored questioning the covid story, but the dirty little secret is that what they publish was influenced by drug companies, mainly because only drug companies could fund the expensive research, but also because they saw developing a miracle drug would make them rich, so even if the new drug wasn't much better than the old drug, they now could point out the medical journal article.

but of course it's not just in the USA: the dirty little secret is that the Ukrainian mess started after the funding of the revolution against the pro Russian president, which worked. But it is not always sucessful: The attempt of the CIA to stop Duterte included funding Rappler (illegally by the way) to try to stop him. I love the part where she claims that Omidyar didn't try to influence the stories. Of course not. The trick is to hire only people you know who will push the agenda, and then say freedom of the press.

The point is that busy people just believe what they are told, because most people have a life and don't have time to investigate what is going on. But the flip side is that once they see the lie, they flip and start believing conspiracy theories.

the blood clot conspiracy

 Dr, John Campbell has had a series of talks about fibrous blood clots being found at autopsy. I am aware of the theory that this is from the spike protein of covid and the various covid vaccines.

ON my medical blog, I checked out some studies about clotting problems with covid reported early in the epidemic, and a discussion if blood thinner should be used. Then they decided it didn't make a difference statisticlly, but one study showed that people on aspirin (as a mild blood thinner) had a lower death rate. In other words, it needs to be started very early, before a lot of people saw a doctor.

the reason I put this up was not to say conspiracy theories should be believed, but that sometimes conspiracy theories might be true.

And given the story of the Post Office scandal in the UK, the refusal to try to check such things by authorities sounds like people placing rules before reality.

alas, having worked for the state and the federal clinics, the problem is the mind set of being a bureaucrat, where you are pressured for not being cooperative with their rules.

Family News: covid, chicken pox, and parties

We grow organic brown rice Kuya and Joy are busy getting last minute rice deliveries to Manila. This includes brown rice in gift packages both for folks to buy, and as gifts to the business owners. They are also buying gift baskets (with groceries) for the employees and farmers who work with us.

Ruby is back from going to her cousin's graduation in Korea, and will stay here for school break: She is teaching in Manila, but since the salary is low, is seeking an overseas job, preferably in Asia so she can visit home frequently. 

She came down with a bad case of the flu, mainly sore throat and diarrhea, and low fever. It lasted five days, but she is now over it and luckily none of the rest of us got sick. Flu or covid? Who knows. Nobody is testing unless they are sick enough to go to the hospital.

Both illnesses are going around, and today's count shows 440 cases of covid in the Philippines, but no deaths. However, a news article notes that population screening shows that there is a lot of covid going around.

In other news: Lots of parties at the local Plaza every night...we live one block away, and so the local trash in the street is worse now, since people coming home from the plaza are dropping uneaten food and dirty paper etc in the street on the way to their cars which are parked all over the side streets near our house... So there have been more rats than usual.

So when my oldest dog Gigi got sick, we took her to the vet who diagnosed leptospirosis. Sigh. She did get shots for this, but I didn't keep the dogs shots up to date after covid hit. The vet had our other dogs put on antibiotics just in case, and they seem okay but Gigi has died, and we buried her in the front garden.

Sigh.

The dogs have recently been killing one or two rats a week, which is bad news since we store our rice here.

we will have to put out poison again. But the danger is if the local feral cats or dogs could accidentally get poisoned...In the meanwhile, traps will have to do.

In other pet news, our white dog Baby had six puppies last month, and this time they all lived, maybe because this time she bred with the neighbor's dog instead of the dogs in our compound, who are related to her. When the puppies open their eyes and start wandering around, they will get moved out to the living room, and I'll try to put up a photo. 

This time she had the puppies in the side room closet, next to Joy's room and when Ruby came to stay, she bit Ruby who got too close to her puppies. 

We don't have any weapons for safety, but everyone has dogs for protection.

We have six dogs at present located in different parts of the property, which contains several apartments, guest rooms, storage room, a business center and a meeting room.

The dogs are medium sized (we no longer have George the Killer Labrador) but when three or four of them come in a rush and bark at you, they do frighten visitors.

I take them with me when I answer the door, for protection.

In other news: There is a chicken pox epidemic in town. The secretary's son has it and I warned her that her preschool child will probably come down with it by Christmas, which of course means no parties for them. The maid's teenage son has it too.

Lots of traffic going by the house, and in the evening lots of cars parked here for those going to the Plaza for partying.

Nursing homes, Covid, and deaths from neglect?

 In the UK, some nursing homes put people sick but not dying with covid on the end of life pathway. This is terminal sedation, which is supposed to be used for cancer patients with intractable pain who are also terminal, but awhile back in the UK they found a lot of non terminal elderly were dying because someone decided to sedate them until they died.

in other words, stealth euthanasia by medical personnel.

In the USA, what killed a lot of elders in nursing homes was the policy to put infectious patients into nursing homes.

I have written in the past how Dr Levine instructed the governor to send still infectious covid patients to be placed back into nursing homes, a policy that caused thousands of deaths in Pennsylvania. His/her reason was that this was mandated by Medicare regulations (which it was: I fought them over this policy years ago). and the bureaucrat in the office insisted that there was no danger because proper use of protective equipment would prevent the disease from spreading. So despite putting his mom into a hotel for safety, he insists that the covid in nursing homes came from staff, not from spread via other patients because the overworked and often poorly trained care givers didn't use the protective equipment properly.

But just the practice to isolate the elderly probably led to some giving up and dying, and lack of staffing meant often they didn't eat properly (my mom used to go to feed her sister in a nursing home, because the staff merely put the tray there and took it away if she didn't feed herself, but she would eat when my mom fed her).

Here, in the Philippines, I am not familiar with the problems in hospitalized patients, but the main problem was everyone was afraid to go to the hospital when they were sick, and we had many who died at home. Even last year, when I had collapsed at home with dengue, I was not allowed into the hospital until I tested negative for covid.  

I don't know how much is being investigate in the USA...

however,  Nurse Claire reported such things back in 2021 on that crazy Jeremiah AnnBarnhardt's podcast. Which is one reason one sometimes needs to pay attention to reports dismissed as conspiracy theories.

Indeed, right now I am listening to Senator Rand Paul's book on the coverup of Covid's origin: not that it came from a Chinese biolab but that the US government was giving them funding through a third party despite laws against gain of function research.

Lots of coverups going on: including bad information by government health officials (italics mine) to the presidents, to the congress, to the governors, etc. in the USA.

and now? lots of pushing of mRNA vaccine on kids who are at low risk, while the internet is full of anecdotal stories of sudden death from spike protein associated myocarditis or clots. Well, that's the way to make a lot of people refuse to get any shot, and so expect a lot of kids sick or dying of childhood diseases that could be stopped by routine shots that have been around for 30 or more years.

Why do I say that? because that is what we saw here in the Philippines after some kids died from the experimental Dengue vaccine.

Former nurse now linked to 17 nursing home deaths. ” A former Pennsylvania nurse who, in May, had been accused of killing two patients with doses of insulin now faces more murder charges and has confessed to trying to kill 19 additional people at several locations, authorities said Thursday. Heather Pressdee, 41, is accused of administering excessive amounts of insulin to patients in her care, some of whom were diabetic and required insulin, and some of whom were not, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

The worst kind of psychopath is the kind who believes they are "doing the right thing," and I think that's where this particular stain on humanity falls. If you think your countrymen can't be convinced to load you into the boxcars "for the greater good," remember this putrescent sack of guts and think again.

will WHO rule the world?

Who is responsible for vaccine side effects?

But the controversy comes down to: IF a vaccine will save many lives, but a few who get it will die, do you give the vaccine?

This has been argued for over a century, when prominent people like GBShaw were anti smallpox vaccine. But smallpox vaccine kills less than 1 percent, but the disease kills at least 30 percent. 

A newer vaccine safety profile shows even fewer problems, but enough that it is used only for the military or those who might be in contact with smallpox: or more recently, for those at risk for being infected with monkeypox.

 The UN wiped out smallpox by vaccinating everyone, even in dangerous areas. So now the only smallpox virus around is in a few biological laboratories... The main worry is that some crazy will release it as bioterrorism. 

But fast forward to today.

Dengue fever is a problem and a growing one.

The main problem: The first episode is minor but a repeat episode might give you a complicated case of Dengue (been there, done that). And if you never had dengue, the vaccine itself will increase your chance of having a complicated case.

A lot of parents here became anti all vaccines after the deaths of some children after the Dengue vaccine (and some of these deaths, but not all, were from complications of teh vaccine). The end result was lack of trust in all vaccines, so childred ended up dying of measles. etc.

Sigh.

But dengue vaccine is not the only one where the harm from the vaccine might be worse than the disease:
