corruption exposed

I often say that in the past it was the Democrats who exposed government abuse of power.

The irony? those exposing these stories are Democrats: Tabibi on twitter files, RFK Jr on Covid and public health scams, and now Tulsi Gabbard finding that the Russiagate scandal was made up.

so anyway, I surfed past CNN (looking for weather news) and voila, there was a chubby lady with bad fashion sense stating that hey, the only reason that anyone was pushing the idea that using the FBI/CIA/British Intelligence/wiretapping one's political opponant was wrong was because of Epstein.

Yup, Epstein evidence that the Biden adminsitration sat on for four years.

This is called gaslighting.

but of course no one will end up in jail.

Sixties redux.

I am watching old tucker Carlson discussions in the background while I surf the net and clean the room.

This discussion (first hour and a half) resembles the conspiracy theories I learned about in the sixties when some of my acquaintances were early anti war protesters (no I supported that war, because I saw communist takeover more dangerous than keeping a corrupt dictatorship... and I was right, although the massacres and ethnic cleansing etc was not given a lot of press after the fall of Saigon)

so here is Tucker spouting conspiracy theories of security operatives being the man behind the curtain manipulating the news to run the USA.

nonsense. Or maybe not: Anyone remember the Church committee?

I have lived a lot in third world hell holes, and tell you the truth, support a lot of this CIA manipulation, because I also saw how the KGB (and now China) is doing the same thing, including taking over poor countries to exploit their resources (e.g. in Africa, when the KGB supported dicatorships and liberation movements but more recently, by the Wagner group seeking gold, China and rare earth metals).

So I am bemused when what is sometimes called the deep state is now pushing  fake Russian conspiracies cooked up by Hillary to used  to spy on the Trumpites,

This is why Twitter is such a disaster for them: and this is why Musk got left wing reporters (italics mine) to uncover this, because until recently it was the left who investigated this type of government overreach.

So there might be a reason to do this for geopolitical reasons, but why did they censor the covid origin and treatments so much? That doesn't make sense

I have no personal information about a lot of this: except for a single sentence where he mentions the Philippines.

at 1h:16 they mention that the CIA couldn't manipulate the Philippine election. True: Duterte joined at the last minute and had grass root support. Background: The CIA hated him and it was mutual because he hated the CIA after they helped a drug pusher in Davao escape justice. So suddenly the western press could only report negative things on Duterte  the CIA arranged Omidyar funding of Rappler, which was against the law, but never mind: there was a full court press pushing the story that trying to prosecute the lady reporter who illegally accepted this money was a poor innocent victim. She even received a Nobel Peace prize for this farce.

and of course never mention that now it was safe for ordinary Filipinos to take the bus or (for me) shop nearby without worrying about being kidnapped or robbed.

And don't mention those stories that the drug cartels were planning to make us a narco state to let them ship drugs all over. this had alas geopolitical implications:

This CIA war against Duterte led him to try to make nice with China, and so China's aggression against the Philippines was rewritten has his fault. But the dirty little secret is that this started before Duterte: from   pressuring Pres Aquino not to respond to them militarily when they started harassing fishermen and digging up the seabed but take it to the courts.

But the courts have no way to enforce the law, so the result was to let them build these islands. oh, never mind.

The Marcos are in charge again and will cooperate with the US, especially since China (seeing Biden is senile) is busy trying to take over more of the Philippines resources (fish, natural gas) and the sea lanes of the West Philippine sea. Sigh. Lolo promised me if I moved here I would always have rice to eat, since we are farmers. Sigh.

censorship: Yup it happened

 from AP/PBS Newshour:

In a letter to Rep. Jim Jordan, the Republican chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Zuckerberg alleges that the officials, including those from the White House, “repeatedly pressured” Facebook for months to take down “certain COVID-19 content including humor and satire.”

OH NO: a MEME! Cancel him.

... “I believe the government pressure was wrong and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it,” Zuckerberg wrote in the letter dated Aug. 26 and posted on the committee’s Facebook page and to its account on X.

Heh. Zuckerburg uses Twitter/X.

Dr Campbell, who has been censored, discusses this issue:

Shame on medical journals like Lancet who censored stories on the lab leak theory by publishing an article written by the guy from ecohealth who actually funded the Wuhan gain of function research, and shame to the many journals who dissed possible treatments because they cited studies showing medicines didn't work that ignored the well known fact that anti virals have to be given early, but studies where these medicines were used early did show they worked.

not to mention ignoring the population studies that suggested they worked (but weren't double blind studies so ignored).

and I won't even go into the censorship of open discussion about vaccine problems

Sigh.

of course, it wasn't just covid that was censored.

a lot of this political censorship is being done by the various governments too... this was discovered when Elon Musk took over Twitter/X and had a couple of well known lefty but honest reporters check these things.

but the war against free speech continues:

France just arrested the guy behind Telegram because someone posted nasty stuff there and he refuses to give information of who they are, never mind that this practice is shielding human rights advocates from being arrested in a lot of third world countries.

For millions of people in Russia, Telegram’s encryption makes it the last remaining avenue to communicate securely and access information freely — governmental attempts to seize platform data must be rejected. Telegram is challenging the Russian government’s order to block and fine the messaging app for failing to provide information that would enable authorities to decode encrypted messages of six crime suspects. The company argues that, in effect, this means creating a backdoor mechanism for decoding all Telegram communications and threatening privacy and freedom of expression rights of all users. On June 10, 2022, Access Now, ARTICLE 19, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Human Rights Watch, Privacy International, and Reporters Without Borders, filed a joint submission to the European Court of Human Rights.
“Journalists and activists in Ukraine and Russia are fighting to end this war. Platforms like Telegram are often their main source of communication, and they bear disproportionate risks if their identities and messages are revealed to Russian authorities,” said Natalia Krapiva, Tech Legal Counsel at Access Now.

censorship of free speech during the covid epidemic probably led to people dying, and in the long term is leading to a distrust of all vaccines and even routine medicines among the fringe.

but censorship of political discussion has broader implications:

That is why an anti vaxxer like RFK JR is influencing the next US election.

When it comes to political discussion, free speech (and this includes accuracy by the MSM) is important:

And this makes me worry:

the one who was bullying Facebook just got a job with Harris.

sigh

who needs freedom of speech?

\\

I had supported the vaccine and even the shutdown during the height of the covid epidemic but I was not aware of the opposing opinions about the vaccines (including side effects: I had AZ and was aware of blood clots but was not aware of the mRNA problems).

However, as the wall of censorship crumbled it seems that the censorship goes on beyond tweets or medical journals that don't disclose the guy writing the paper saying the covid was not a lab leak was a guy funding gain of function research in that lab.

So now on many fronts, the censors are getting nastier even as the evidence and public opinion is turning against them.

Take Dr. Jordan Peterson: Despite the evidence from the UK that showed the fad of gender surgery and drugs for underage childrean and teens had no medical studies showing it helped, he is now told he has to take a reeducation course to keep his license to practice psychology.

....

then we have people in the UK pushing penalties for free speech. It seems to be a one sided response to the protests. But JFK once reminded us:

as I have written elsewhere, I am old enough to remember when JKF defended the Mother's march for peace, which back then was considered a communist front, and he explained that he needed alternative voices to counter the severe pressure he was under from the Pentagon and anti communist types in the government. This might have been a step too soon, because as I told Kuya, the USSR interpreted it as weakness and the result was the Cuban missile crisis, where the US and USSR almost got into nuclear war. But when you silence all voices, it allows the really crazies to take over the opposition.

I see this in the mRNA vaccine side effects The US is still pushing the shots even though covid has evolved to be no worse than the flu, but people saw side effects, and since the official stories denied any problem, the result is that some folk stopped believing the official stories. As a result, some got so paranoid that they started refusing vaccines that have been routine for fifty or more years without any problems. (we saw a similar reaction after it was found the experimental Dengue vaccine had killed some kids)/

Sigh.

then there is the censorship in the UK anti immigration protests where some reports are that if you even tweet your opinion against immigrants you can be jailed...at a time when the MSM is not noting that  usual idiots are doing violent counter demonstrations. And given the recent threat against Taylor Swift, one wonders if these terrible murders were also terrorism... no reports on motive yet. Wonder why.

given the history of censorship of all aspects of the covid epidemic,  Dr. C compares this censorship as similar to the overblown censorship about covid.

but it doesn't stop there.

I just read that Tulsi Gabbard is being monitored by air marshalls when she flies because she is on a terrorist watch list.

Tulsi got more votes in the 2020 primaries than Kamala Harris, but as a veteran is a bit anti war, especially in the Ukraine. (wonder what she would do here in Luzon with China breathing down our throats).

But it does make you wonder who is running the show.

But hey, I live in a small town and only blog, so I am safe even if I complain. What could they do to me, right/

Uh Oh; gadfly/satirist Dilbert just got his credit cards cancelled. Guess the censors don't recognize that he often says over the top satire of the news, as a way to provoke his listeners to think about stuff that is ignored because folk are too polite to talk about.

Headlines we got um

a follow up of my previous rant about Iran being the puppetmaster behind the latest war against Israel and the west:

.

all the stuff on Gaza casualties is of course exaggerated and much of it is violence porn and sophisticated so that it makes you want to hate Israel. but never mind.

............

and then there is this.

remember this guy has a secret clearance, showing you that all that any nincompoop can get a security clearance.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

and a virus experts explains why banning gain of function research is like silencing Galileo. But unlike Galileo, he didn't kill a couple million folks with a lab leak.

most biolabs are about identifying illnesses in animals: an example would be when Ebola Reston infected a bunch of pigs in a nearby farm. But a year ago there was a story here about EcoHealth trying to fund a lab here, not to help with these needed investigations, but to investigate illnesses in wild animals that might evolve to hurt humans. Luckily the Senate stopped it because they found the US Dept of Defence was funding it. But nothing in the news since then, so I hope the gov't stopped them from doing germ warfare stuff here.

and another story of how an expert who opposed some of the covid shutdown policies was punished.

it was the Great Barrington Declaration.

see above post about Galileo. But hey, it's okay to use a 400 year old mistake to destroy Catholicism, but don't dare criticize Pope Fauci.

and the rot isn't limited to the medical leaders in the CDC and medical societies/journals that should have published these questions.

Audit of Boeing's practices suggests a sloppiness that is dangerous and might sink that company's ability to sell airplanes. And the "suicide" of a whistleblower right before he was scheduled to testify makes things worse.

and a lot of people are now willing to stand up and say: Wait a second.

-------------

I thought Dr Phil was a new age guru in Oprah's religion. But now he is talking to Jordan Peterson?!

.................

years ago, an Irish friend told me the press was very anti Catholic because they saw the church standing in the way of modern policies of what we call woke. So far they have succeeded, but last week's vote suggested push back.

of course this is the spin by the experts that give you an idea of how this is being reframed to explain why those deplorables didn't do it.

reminds one how they pushed a hysterical narrative about a death of a woman from sepsis from a botched and illegal second trimester abortion into the need to legalize abortion.

The bad news is that after Ireland rejected the Mastrict treaty, they simply started a propaganda campaign and promises of prosperity and it squeaked through in a revote.

so expect the same thing here.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

finally, I know nothing about tiktok, but the addiction to social media was made worse by the isolation during the covid quarantines. It is not good for one's mental health, and you can be quickly sucked into a rabbit hole of the latest thing. But heck, talk radio has done that for years. The difference? The kids are more vulnerable to being groomed/brainwashed.

.....

Rand Paul's take on the issue:

As to China mining data: heck, the FBI is doing that already from Facebook,

and of course Chinese hackers stole my OPM file a couple years ago, along with the OPM files of over a million military and gov't employees. We were told it was criminals, but hey it was the Chinese gov't who now knows all about us.

The answer might be to take cellphones away from vulnerable kids.

My sister in law forbad facebook years ago because her daughter's skating team was ridiculed so much it was putting her into a deep depression. I should note that since then, she has skated with a professional ice skating company for one season, but now has switched to being a physical therapist instead of a PhysEd teacher for team skating.

I stopped going to facebook about four years ago because it was full of hate stuff posted by friends and relativesm, and have had to limit my tweeting viewership because of this extreme partisanship distorts reality.

And hey, with the election coming, it will get worse.

steal an election. Protest it: it's a coup baby

Instapundit says:BIAS BY OMISSION:

not true The BBC did have a story if you carefully searched their website:

Thousands rally in support of Brazil's ex-leader Jair Bolsonaro

that's the headline: But if you read the article and check the details, they do admit it is more than thousands:

Tens of thousands of people gathered on Sao Paulo's iconic Paulista Avenue to show support to Brazil's ex-president Jair Bolsonaro, as the investigation continues into claims he plotted a coup with allies to remain in power after his failed 2022 re-election bid.

The NYT and the PC MSM of course say the election wasn't stolen

Yup Just like Trumpieboy: no stolen election here, folks, just look away.

Trust the science machines... To claim fraud in an election is fake news/treason/a coup/ bad.

BBC report from last year:

Brazil election: Do voting machines lead to fraud? Published 3 October 2022

one argument is that judges said there was no fraud, as did experts. But then outside experts show how easy it is to mess up the machines, but hey don't pay attention to them.

stealing elections is not new.

Anyway, after Hello Garci, where the alleged phone call was asking if there were enough paper votes in the back room, the Philippines spent a lot of money for voting machines. Which they now have stopped using because of problems: there is enough suspicion of the results that it is easier to discard the machines than risk a revolution.

The problem with machines is that the experts might not be aware of sophisticated ways to change the vote. Given the CIA and/or Chinese attempts to get in a favorable government, one can see the problem. Of course, if the vote is not close, it's harder to steal the election: So a popular Duterte won because people knew he cleaned up Davao and would clean up the country.

As I note: When I voted Republican in New Mexico, it took four tries for the touch screen screen to correctly record my vote correctly: If I had not been in a hurry I might not have noticed the vote had been switched.

One other note: as far back as the 1950s there were stories of mechanical voting machine problems that wouldn't click over to count your vote. And of course, (Hello Garci) the boxes of ballots in the back room is an old scam.

so who do you trust?

Censorship vs Musk

how do the unelected bureaucrats run the world? Via their minions put into the bureaucracy of minor countries.

the Aussies are on it

,,,,censoring you on social media.

and now fake news will become worse because of AI.

StrategyPage discusses.

Russia has long used a large propaganda organization to attack and weaken enemies. AI is now another tool for the Russians to use.

As I noted: in the past, the USSR pushed anti vax stuff in the news to third world countries. Why? Because they didn't want locals to see that the western vaccinations were saving the lives of their children.

Some useful idiots picked up these stories without bothering to examining the reality.

But when covid hit, and a lot of folks died (here even young people died of covid), what happened was that governments greatly overused both their ability to shut things down (causing deaths from untreated ordinary diseases and here, harming education and poor people's ability to work and survive) and push vaccines on low risk folk, the anti vax types who shouted danger were shut down for fake news: meaning that real questions were not allowed to be asked.

freedom of speech

Tucker continues to cause problems.

Everyone pointing to his interview with Putin as if it was treason, not a routine interview similar to what used to be done on the BBC, but his interview here is also causing problems.

real clear politics discusses here.

"From their perspective, if the military did not begin to censor the internet, all of the democratic institutions and infrastructure that gave rise to the modern world after World War Two would collapse."

reality check: There are other ways to inform people (the use of cassettes with religious sermons was how the Ayatolla got rid of the Shah, who had jailed all the leftists and censored their complaints in the news).

But allowing freedom of speech and freedom of religious opinions is the basis of the US Bill of Rights, and is needed for a free society.

This is not a one sided attempt of censorship (see previous post about boogiewoogiegate)

So this is a normal geopolitic tactic.

What is new is how this censorship program was extended to not allow ordinary medical discussions about covid policies and treatments.

when I worked in Africa, we knew the Soviet Union spread anti vax propaganda and lies (including anti vax stuff that got doctor giving out vaccines killed). So there is a reason for the CIA etc. to push the US point of view and help grass roots medical institutions in their public health work.

But when the national security state pushes the idea that the Covid virus didn't come out of a Chinese lab leak, gets a major medical journal to post an article signed by "experts" saying this, and later censors experimental cheap medicines (e.g. Ivermectin) while pushing other experimental cheap medicines and vaccines, I suggest that such things are outside their area of expertise.

Headsup Dr. Malone. who posts the transcript.

a lot of this is geopolitical censorship. Heck, what else is new.

but what is new is the covid censorship media project

There's over 60 universities now who get federal government grants to do the censorship work ...They did this, for example, with COVID. They created these COVID lexicons of what dissident groups were saying about mandates, about masks, about vaccines, about high profile individuals like Tony Fauci or Peter Daszak or any of these protected VIPs and individuals whose reputations had to be protected online.
And they created these code books, they broke things down into narratives. The Atlanta Council, for example, was a part of this government funded consortium, something called the Virality Project, which mapped 66 different narratives that dissidents we're talking about around covid, everything from COVID origins to vaccine efficacy.
And then they broke down these 66 claims into all the different factual sub claims. And then they plugged these into these essentially machine learning models to be able to have a constant world heat map of what everybody was saying about covid. And whenever something started trend that was bad for what the Pentagon wanted or was bad for what Tony Fauci wanted, they were able to take down tens of millions of posts.

it is bad enough to use such things (dirty politics is not new: Caesar was killed because the propaganda persuaded folk he wanted to be king). But when a government uses their power to censor their opponents, and works with the social media to do such censorship, then democracy is in danger.

And of course, the bias in covid coverage, even in medical journals, has resulted in people just not trusting these institutions.

Sigh.

no one reading my blog?

about a year ago, my average blog readership was about 60, and then it quickly fell to about 20, and stayed there. Now since last week it fell to 5 and has stayed there for ten days. Wonder why?

the blood clot conspiracy

Dr, John Campbell has had a series of talks about fibrous blood clots being found at autopsy. I am aware of the theory that this is from the spike protein of covid and the various covid vaccines.

watch this, and go to his youtube page for more discussions. He ran across this after analyzing the excess death problems.

he also has a Rumble channel in case this is removed from youtube.

So is there a link?

ON my medical blog, I checked out some studies about clotting problems with covid reported early in the epidemic, and a discussion if blood thinner should be used. Then they decided it didn't make a difference statisticlly, but one study showed that people on aspirin (as a mild blood thinner) had a lower death rate. In other words, it needs to be started very early, before a lot of people saw a doctor.

the reason I put this up was not to say conspiracy theories should be believed, but that sometimes conspiracy theories might be true.

And given the story of the Post Office scandal in the UK, the refusal to try to check such things by authorities sounds like people placing rules before reality.

alas, having worked for the state and the federal clinics, the problem is the mind set of being a bureaucrat, where you are pressured for not being cooperative with their rules.

Boogie Woogie gate

One of the more absurd items on youtube is about a musician in the UK who  plays the public piano (i.e. a piano put there that anyone can play).

and who was streaming (luckily) his music, and then some Chinese carrying a Chinese flag tried to stop him, and when he asked if they were Chinese, they accused him of racism.

Here is the video, (until they take it down for complaints). I should add that early in the video he calls them Japanese, which is maybe why he asked if they were Chinese. And notice that they are merely standing around for nine minutes and didn't bother to move, which would have been easy.

Turn on to listen to the wonderful music, or if you want to see absurdity in action fast forward to nine minutes....

...music restarts at 30 minute mark.

in the meanwhile, the ChiComs are busy spreading their side of the story, which of course is proved to be a lie if you watch the video. So they are now trying to get the video removed from You tube.

A little late, since over 8 million folk have already watched it.

to show he wasn't picking on the Chinese, here is an older video of playing at what appears to be the same site. Playing piano and interacting with some of those listening, and even asking them to join him in making music...

....

Note he has 2 million followers so if youtube demonatizes him, it will affect his income. Never mind that their story is proved to be a lie by the original video.

I should also note that he has videos of various security type trying to shut him down in the past.

The piano was donated and placed there by Elton John, with the idea that ordinary folk could play it in public.

And although the piano was corded off after the incident, it is now released to be played.

===========

update: the free Hong Kong activists use the piano to protest how China has destroyed freedom in that city.

Banned for burlesque or bad speak?

The big news in the Philippines this week:,,

Blackpink star Lisa removed from Chinese social media after cabaret show...
SHANGHAI, China - K-pop singer Lisa of megastar girl group Blackpink has been banned from China's Weibo social media platform, sparking speculation among fans Friday that the censorship was tied to a burlesque performance she gave in Paris.
Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, disappeared from Weibo this week, with her personal page replaced by an error message saying her account was "not viewable due to being reported for violating laws (and) regulations". Also banned from posting was Hong Kong actress Angelababy, whose real name is Angela Yeung, due to "violations of relevant laws and regulations", a message on her official Weibo account says.

How dare she dance (no it's not burlesque: she keeps her clothes on)...

Weibo is a Chinese social media platform, but is under the thumb of the government there.

Blackpink is the Asian equivalent of Taylor Swift

Imagine if a famous singer in the USA was banned from twitter because their songs upset someone in the Biden administration, so they used pressure on the social media to remove it.

But of course the US government would never pressure social media sites (/sarcasm).

But this is not about K pop: it is about China pushing people around... because they can.

Chinese censors are quick to block content considered politically sensitive or going against the ruling Communist Party’s socially conservative values, with stars targeted in the past for tattoos and “effeminate” fashion. The blocking of the two stars comes after President Xi Jinping called on women to help in “promoting traditional Chinese virtues and sound family values”.

hmm... wonder if that includes traditional Chinese values like polygamy, infanticide, and foot binding...

So what is the back story?

K-pop group BLACKPINK gets blasted for calling fans as ‘Macanese,’ not ‘Chinese’

BLACKPINK has faced a torrent of online criticism this week after referring to their Macau fans as "Macanese" rather than "Chinese" following its concerts there, spawning a disapproving hashtag from nationalistic social media users. ....

so how dare they use the wrong pronoun ethnic description!

Or is there a backstory to that backstory?

The furor over Macau's status came as a major pro-democracy party in the city disbanded in the wake of tighter restrictions on public dissent in the city under Chinese rule. The New Democratic Macau Association dissolved in the wake of changes to the city's national security law that make it far more risky to continue with open political opposition in Macau, ...  "Even striving for democracy could be regarded as trying to overthrow the current political system," Au said.

Fast forward to minute 53 and this satire site discusses what was going on:

here are examples of Blackpink's music:

Is it paranoia or is it reality?

Why listen to conspiracy theories?  Because they often take an overlooked problem and inflate it to an evil conspiracy. But if you don't note what they are saying, you might miss they do point out something that does need to be noticed.

For example, years ago, some conspiracy theorists noted that Soros backed organizations were funding the campaigns for big city district attorneys: in order to reform the racist criminal courts.

So we now see the problem of good intentions that ignore reality:

Trump said to just shoot these criminal gangs... Uh, I don't think so.

But you know that worked here under Duterte. But too many killed were not kingpins but minor criminals.
|
For example, once while doing business downtown, shots rang out and we were told to go inside for safety, and when I came out, there was a dead young lady lying on the street: she and a friend tried to rob a local pharmacy and were shot at by the security guard. ...

Sigh. Were they criminals, or just poor people trying to make money to eat? or (more likely) people using shabu who needed money to pay for drugs?

But even here, before Duterte, a lot of crime was sociopaths figuring they could get away with robbing, but after he made the possible price for crime go up, they decided maybe to stop robbing and work for a living and stay alive....
So do you mourn low level criminals who are shot for minor crimes, or do you mourn those killed by these criminals? We did have several neighbors killed in home invasion robberies.

 So whose rights come first?

Sigh.
================
the NWO is going on alive and well.

the Pope is joining with the Clinton foundation to make a nice new world of love and peace.
Because the honesty of the Clintons ia above suspicion.

much of it is about wanting peace in our time (cue Miss Congeniality satire of this)

).

But of course despite all his nice words, which I support, the dirty little secret is that the Pope says one thing here and another thing there and his actions often don't fit the idea of niceness to all.

the Pope is busy openly presecuting the trad catholics and is now going after the mainstream Catholics as in EWTN and many of the US Catholic bishops who still believe in what the church has taught for the last 2000 years.

Sigh

......................

Julian Assange was persecuted (he bonked a girl and she claims it was rape).

And now we read one after another person being hit to silence them.

I mean, Rumble is full of nonsense, but now there are people saying advertisers should refuse to monitize anyone on Rumble because... Russell Brand is on Rumble,

This has nothing to do with his recent work criticizing the establishment point of view: The press and the UK government just noticed that he bonked the wrong woman 15 years ago, when he was being touted in the tabloids as a bigshot boinker in the UK (and back then that was a compliment). But apparently he said something wrong, so eliminate him

But there are other ways to hide information: put a lot of stuff in your search engine search so what you want to find is now number 290 and you have to really keep loading the pages to find it.

of course, soon the google search will be passe: CHat stuff will look for you and tell you the truth.

.......................

In other news: the complicated problem of people wanting jobs , and the failure to implement giving them visas legally.... and the exploitation of these people by criminals out for money and who also smuggle ciminals, drugs and do human trarfficking on the side.

and AlJ notes a lot of the danger to migrants is not the US racism but criminal gangs:They note:

Migrants and asylum seekers are sometimes shot if their smuggler is working for a rival gang or if they haven’t paid passage rights. Migrants and asylum seekers are also often robbed by roving gangs of thieves and kidnappers in border areas.

and don't forget this:

The sour fruit of Teilhard's evolutionary ideas

a recent article in the New Yorker discussing the Pope who in Mongolia revealed he love Teilhard's philosophy, and that this might be the tipping point for the coming synod

As it turns out, Teilhard’s theology of cosmic spiritual progress is a useful way to understand the challenges that Francis is currently facing

what is left out of that is Jesus.

...His written work, a sustained effort to reconcile Christian theology with the theory of evolution, placed him in the vanguard of twentieth-century theology...

which only shows the problem of theologians who no longer believe all that stuff about Jesus.

Teilhard’s notion that the earth would someday be surrounded by a complex information system powered by human consciousness has been seen as anticipating the Internet...

and don't forget his ideas of evolving intelligence is similar to transhumanist ideas, of ubermensch who live forever via genetic engineering or via being linked to computers.

But Teilhard’s most memorable concept is the notion that “tout ce qui monte, converge,” or “everything that rises must converge”that the various forces of natural evolution and human civilization are all ascending in a pattern of spiritual progress and will converge in a “Point Omega” at the end of time.

But he posited spontaneous evolution, not evolution via labs and CRISPR and computer implants that merge your brain with a computer.

And behind all of this shiny brave new world are the lessons of history.

one of the backstories of war and conquest going back to the ancient world is the logic of conquerers: that they are superior in some way and you peons are inferior, so obey us or die.

the idea that some people are justified in conquering inferior races can be seen not just in European colonialism and in Rome's history, but in Chinese history, Japanese conquering Korea, the Mongul invasion of India, Genghis Khan, or Shaka Zulu among others.

So the fruits of Teilhard's evolution leads to what? A universe of love, or history repeating itself as the egotitical use his theory to insist science gave them the right to take over the world? and this time, the argument will be it's science so shut up.

(sound familiar?)

Then you have the ideas that Teilhard's ideas rconcile science and evolution with the faith: something was behind evolution and man will evolve to an omega point and voila paradise.

Theologically that has a lot of holes in it that no one wants to talk about.

 uh, Jesus?

Because at a time when Rome was proud to have conquered the world and imposed order and peace on it's minions (just ignore the slaves and massacres of course), God pulled one of his tricks and came to earth as a little baby born in a working class family in a remote area of the empire, and brought another idea: that the creator of the universe loves and cares for those who are least important in the eyes of the world.
that all men are created equal in God's eyes and that we serve him in caring for others....

which brings me back to the Pope and his fake synodality meeting that are prescripted so that everyone approves of his "reforms", which stress global warming, ecology, and sexual liberation for all, and the idea that the church should be an NGO cooperating with the global effort toward peace and a sustainable world, not a church dedicated to preaching Jesus.

This has geopolitical implications...

But the US press which hates conservatives prefers to frame the story in good liberals vs bad conservatives (who are of course white racists)...And I can only shake my head over their racist assumption that only white European and American opinions matter...(Just ignore all these African bishops, who actually believe in Jesus. As the Anglican church can tell you, they aren't exactly going to go along with the modern heresies).

which brings us to another problem with Teilhard: a willingness to tolrate scientific fraud in the Piltdown hoax to support his belief in evolution,  and his ability to ignore the racist assumptions behind the Piltdown hoax...

Teilhard was involved in the Piltdown man hoax: maybe not behind it but very close, and he never opened his mouth to question it.

And the Piltdown man was pushed by British establishment that loved eugenics and evolution and used the Piltdown man to prove the Brits were the first true humans (i.e. inferior races evolved later and were inferior. see argument here).

Osborn studied the intelligence and physical attributes of modern humans to reveal their distinct racial and evolutionary journeys. He judged the black race to be the oldest and, by implication, the least evolved;

italics mine

the white race had made the greatest advances. As with Dawn Man, environment did the heavy lifting in shaping the evolution of the races.....
Proof of inherent biological and evolutionary difference between Europeans, Africans, and Asians was of acute importance to Osborn because he believed strongly in keeping these group separate. ...
He co-founded the Galton Society in 1918 and American Eugenics Society in 1922, both dedicated to the advancement of the white race through eugenics. These groups sponsored “Fitter Family” contests, anti-miscegenation laws, and sterilization drives for unfit groups and “inferior” races.

Buck vs Bell, anyone?

and other ideas morphed from this small seed: and alas every conservative site echoes this type of racism against immigration:

Osborn was also very politically active, passionately lobbying for the Immigration Act of 1924 that drastically limited immigration from Asia and Southern and Eastern Europe.

ah, but what about now, when we can make designer babies? Back then, "Nature had shaped each human race into an evolutionary form suited to its specific environment" was the idea, but in today's world we actually can do it ourselves.

CRISPR an;yone?

A recent book about Teilhard work with the Peking man (not discovered by him) seems to say it was this discovery that gave him the idea of evolution of man. But his involvement with the Piltdown hoax suggests he already had that idea and merely wanted evidence to support his preconceived idea. Fast forward to Peking man.

A spectacular example of erectus was discovered in 1929 by Chardin and the David crew in China’s Zhoukoudian caves. There they unearthed the fossil dubbed Peking Man—“as typical a link between man and the apes as one could wish for,” the priest wrote exultantly. (This vital find, along with many other fossils, vanished in 1941 during the Japanese occupation of China.)

how convenient.

Smithsonian magazine discusses the PIltdown hoax

and this article notes discusses Teilhard's part in the hoax.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a French Jesuit paleontologist, priest, and philosopher. In the figures published in articles in 1943 and 1951, he attempted to draw a "plausible schematic reconstruction of the natural connections between fossil men" and a "phyletic composition of the human group".

I draw attention to Teilhard's reference to Eoanthropus ("Piltdown Man") in small print in his figure that was first printed in 1943. Most suspiciously, there is no reference to this (supposedly important) genus in the associated text, nor is there any reference whatsoever to "Piltdown Man" in the article published in 1951.

Even as early as January 1913, Teilhard may have been aware that "Piltdown Man" was a hoax or joke, artificially associating a human cranium with a modified orangutan mandible. A new suspect is Edgar Willett (rather than Charles Dawson). Teilhard may have been an advisory accomplice in a joke that went seriously wrong.

so it was a joke? so it's okay?

Science magazine has more about Teilhard's involement and continues to say it was a joke, because of course, one can not be forgiven to be involved in lying in science, but hey, a joke can be forgiven.

Dawson's calculated chicanery underscores why studying Piltdown Man is still important to modern science, De Groote says. Although such a brazen hoax is unlikely to occur again in physical anthropology because of the sophistication of modern analytical techniques, she says, there's still a danger of being too quick to accept interpretations that adhere to what scientists expect to find.. ...

sound familiar?

"Piltdown Man sets a good example of the need for us to take a step back and look at the evidence for what it is," she says, "and not for whether it conforms to our preconceived ideas."

So the debate about Teilhard and the Piltdown hoax also could be discussed in the distortions about covid (or global warming) where scientists who go against the shaky science are silenced, not just by their collegues but in scientific journals...

and like the Piltdown man hoax, this is not about science per se but about censoring ideas

Stories in the background

Strategy Page has two stories about GPS. One is about jamming it by Israel and Russia,

it's about stopping those missiles, and mentions other systems that by pass GPS.

and this essay is about a new system that will bypass the satellites.

or you could use the old fashioned ways: with maps

or with sextants:

---------------------

the anti vax nut Robert Kennedy is running for president. But if you want to hear his opinions, fugetaboutit because Youtube has removed the video of his interview with Jordan Peterson. However it can be found on Rumble, if you can stand actually going to that controversial site.

cue Joe Rogan.

And the pro vax scientist laments he is having his feelings hurt by these influential folks.

What I worry is that, like the lies about the Dengue vaccine here, that the lies about the covid vaccine will lead to a distrust of all vaccines, and lead to people dying of diseases like measles, whooping cough, tetanus, etc...even though these vaccines have been around for decades and have saved millions of lives.

-----------------

In the meanwhile, I might get into trouble because I tweeted this report about the newest Covid vaccine to a local newspaper pushing folks to get the newest vaccine:

Among adults aged ≥18 years without immunocompromising conditions, bivalent booster vaccine effectiveness (VE) against COVID-19–associated hospitalization declined from 62% at 7–59 days postvaccination to 24% at 120–179 days compared with VE among unvaccinated adults. Among immunocompromised adults, lower bivalent booster VE was observed.

translation: it seemed to lower the death ratefor two months (!): (italics mine).

In time-stratified analyses comparing mortality rates among unvaccinated persons with those among vaccinated persons 2 weeks–2 months after receipt of a bivalent booster dose, mortality RRs significantly declined from 16.3 during the BA.5-predominant period to 8.4 during the XBB.1.5-predominant period, representing a modest reduction in crude vaccine effectiveness

so give it to grandmom, not your two year old kid.

I should note: Someone needs to teach these folks to write clearly.

and not answered: Will repeated shots increase the rate of spike protein induced auto immune problems? LINK Immunology 2022 article wondered about this.

and this article (Vaccines Basel) wonders if this mechanism means more vaccine shots increase your vulnerability to covid.

and this 2022 article (Cureus) noted that the myocarditis in young men was increased after the second dose. but as this Korean study (Jan 2023 Eur heart journal) shows, it remains rare with 1.35 per 100 thousand, but much higher (5 in 100thousand)  in young men.

the original covid virus, which killed mainly the eldelry but also killed the middle aged and young (several local businessmen died of it, and one of our friends' pregnant daughter and her baby died of covid: She refused the vaccine because of pregnancy.)

But now, with the omicron varient, covid pneumonia deaths  which had a typical x ray. are rare,

Most of the deaths are with covid (of bacterial pneumonia, simlar to deaths with influenza), not from the virus causing pneumonia.

The problem is was not pushing the use of covid vaccines early in the epidemic. That was justified.

The problem was censoring alternative opinions, prolonging the lockdown, etc. And now the problem is continuing to promote their use on low risk people after omicron varient took over.

Dr Malone discusses (banned video).

His criticisms are a bit over the top, so he was banned, but the Streisand effect kicked in and the banning made his discussion with Joe Rogan pretty well explode the monopoly of the gatekeeprs. And not just to the anti vax types:

A lot of us got upset when doctors trying to give possible helpful medicines were threatened by losing their licenses... the problem was trying to give anti virals and medicines with few side effects like Ivermectin was now taboo despite contradicting studies  link link link

people who face a serious disease will often succumb to quack medicine of course. or sometimes just find a way to buy the medicines because they know that they could die wanting for the FDA to approve the medicine. Dallas buyers club anyone?

---------------

the British scandal of party gate has MPH Dr Campbell and historian Neil Oliver angry. Apparantly the VIPs in the UK partied at a time when lockdowns prevented people visiting their loved one, etc.

Sort of like when BLM protests were okay but attending church or school was not.

Sigh.

-----------------------------------

then we come to the censorship wars over controversial (banned in Europe) treatment of under age trans folk.

the MSM uses the trans vocabulary (gender affirming treatment, don't say gay) to push the agenda.

Before if you posted anti trans stuff, (including medical studies that question the agenda) you were kicked off of twitter, facebook, youtube, blogger etc.

But now Elon is fighting back. But has he gone too far?

twitter will now stop you from using the newfangled word cis and cis gender because it is being used in a racist way to ridicule normal people. (In English cis suggests the word Sissy).

sorry: the term should not be banned. It should be criticized and ridiculed.

Like the term "white people", a racist term I first heard bandied about by NPR it is merely a term used by SJW to bully people.

I had to look it up, but it makes sense: in history one reads about Cisalpine Gall, and I always thought they used cis to imply bad white people (the Romans disliked the blond Celts aka Gauls because they once looted Rome).

but of course in today's world, even the term normality is being banned.

experts who covered up covid origin will never be punished.

More and more articles are coming out that the covid epidemic was a lab leak, and that the virus was caused by gain of function research, funded by Fauci (because President Obama stopped this dangerous research in the USA) and yes it may have been part of Chinese bioweapon research (luckily they didn't accidentally leak a more virulent version).

shellenberger Twitter thread

Max Taibbi Racket news article

Public news at substack written by MICHAEL SHELLENBERGER, MATT TAIBBI, AND ALEX GUTENTAG

read the entire article and weep. Because this was all highly suspected for years, but the experts pushed back to stop these rumors. And major MSM and medical journals went along with the ruse to the point of punishing those who promoted these theories. But the Racket article ends hopefully saying that the MSM still has some honest reporters so maybe we will find the truth.

One reason that this story is appearing now: First of all, because Elon Musk allowed an investigation on censorship on Twitter.

Second, this article in the very liberal UK Times (behind paywall) LINK

this goes beyond China lying about it (heck, China lies all the time). It is about lies by experts in the USA who silence voices who dared to point fingers and say it needed to be investigated. And it is about major medical journals who went along with the propaganda.

For example, ecohealth funded the Wuhan lab research, but no one blinked when the head of ecohealth got a bunch of scientists to write a letter to Lancet to deny it was a lab leak very early in 2020.

and as the evidence continued to leak out, the slowness of the MSM continued.

For example, this article in May 2021 in the WAPOST admits it could be a lab leak, and hey maybe someone should look into it.

so why didn't they? The article essentially say the reason it wasn't looked into by their intrepid reporters is because those trying to publicize the theory were Republicans. They even blame Trump because when he hinted this might have been the case,  " The Trump administration’s messaging was often accompanied by anti-Chinese rhetoric that made it easier for skeptics to ignore its claims."

by the way: the anti Chinese rhetoric was because he called it the Chinese virus, and because he stopped travelers from arriving from China at a time when the W.H.O. said it wasn't infectious and that one shouldn't stop travelers. That is why Nancy Pelosi encouraged Chinese new year celebrations that probably spread the virus (and the BLM demonstrations were allowed because they didn't spread the virus either)

OF course by then it was too late: already it was spreading in Italy (and spread to NYC) and was making people sick in Seattle etc.

But it points out another way the anti Trump obsession resulted in news stories that were not just inaccurate, but resulted in people dying because no one dared to question the experts (and those who dared were ignored).

And guess who was the first to point out the lab leak as the source: according to that WAPO article:

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) from the start pointed to the lab’s location in Wuhan, pressing China for answers, so the history books will reward him if he turns out to be right.

Yup. what the article doesn't point out: He is a practicing physician, but of course he was a Republican from Oklahoma so could be ignored.

So those behind this propaganda (that slowed the original shutdown at a time that might have saved lives) are the same ones who later proposed over the top lockdowns that were not needed, and vaccines to children who were not at risk.

and don't forget those who placed infectious covid patients into nursing homes.

Governor Cuomo sometimes is condemned for this since he allowed it, but of course he was following advice from experts. And of course, we need to blame those experts who followed out of date Medicare rules to do this because the Medicare rules insiste that well trained staff (/s) in (understaffed) nursing homes could keep people safe. But will anyone  blame those who wrote those rules? Of course not.Nor will those experts who told governors this practice was safe be punished.

Indeed,  Dr. Levine, who approved of this in Pennsylvania has actually denied reality and defending her actions, and denied that placing infected people into nursing homes caused deaths because as Newsweek points out she didn't do it (she merely ordered them to do it, but never mind).

(although) Levine serve(d) as the Pennsylvania secretary of health and was active in that position when the state's health department issued the guidance to nursing home facilities saying they can accept patients from hospitals and patients who formerly had COVID-19, that (fact) does not prove she placed coronavirus-positive patients in nursing homes or contributed to thousands of elderly deaths in the state.

so Levine was rewarded with a high government job, because hey, he is a she and can't criticize a trans person for incompetence or you will be called a bigot.

so why is it important to bring all these things up?

Because those who lied should not be left in power to lie again.

and because of the "boy who cried wolf" problem: When a real epidemic starts, no one will believe them.

We saw this in the Philippines, when children died from an experimental Dengue vaccine, so some parents didn't trust vaccines that had been around for decades: They refused to get their kids vaccinated against routine childhood illnesses, so kids got measles, diphtheria, etc. and some of them died.

so now that some  of the problems the establishment covered up (such as the side effects of the vaccines) are being revealed, the conspiracy theorists are being believed by some, often in an exaggerated form.

But what is worse, is that the establishment types who were behind the coverup are being rewarded:

and very real questions on risky research are not being asked by those who should be discussing the risk/benefit problems.

according to Nature

NIH reinstates grant for controversial coronavirus research

EcoHealth Alliance lost funding during the Trump administration, but can now proceed with its research — under extensive restrictions.

yup. But did EcoHealth learn their lessons? Who will be inspecting these facilities? And why are only those evil Republicans  trying to stop them when distrust of Big Pharma is a traditional liberal position?

By the way: EcoHealth got a grant to put one of these labs into the Philippines...it's aim?

REDUCING THE THREAT OF VIRAL SPILLOVER FROM WILDLIFE IN THE PHILIPPINES

and some here are not pleased. Inquirer editorial Feb 2023 insists that this needs to be looked into:

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency is a combat support agency within the United States Department of Defense (DoD) doing work on weapons of mass destruction, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high explosives. Isn’t this funding suspicious? This role of civilian and agricultural cooperation rests with the US Department of Agriculture, not with agencies within the US DoD, clearly. Will the DFA and DND ask US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during his visit to clarify the US position?

update: UKGuardian opinion article on the UK investigation of the Covid response, and the complexity of deciding what to do

But it’s vital that the inquiry separates out what were scientific questions, that independent advisers and academics could provide data and input on, and what were leadership decisions. Policy measures such as closing gyms or schools or play parks, or the introduction of mandatory face coverings, were conveyed as “scientific” decisions, but they weren’t. Scientists could present the probable risks and benefits of certain policy options, but the final decision didn’t lie with them.
