Heh

Last Friday Greyhawk predicted:"now that congress has done their bit for al Qaeda and other killers in Iraq, it's time for them to return the favor. Expect their next best attempt at a Tet-like offensive.."
And today he notes an attack on a US post that ended up with the enemy fleeing (just like in Tet) but the press breathlessly reporting the attack, making it a success from a PR standpoint for the "insurgents".

For those who don't remember Tet, it was a failure but the US press covered it as a success and used it to prove the war could not succeed. An unreported incident of TET was that 5 000 civilians were lslaughtered in Hue.

Ironically, even though this was well known by our soldiers, it didn't get much publicity in the states, where the media and anti war types prefered to think the Viet Cong were merely mild mannered patriots fighting the evil Americans.

Remember that number the next time you hear of a car bomb. There are things worse than car bombs or Abu Graib....like hundreds of mass graves, some containing babies and toddlers still clasping toys. BBC LINK

Ah, but did you know Europeans aren't helping to identify the estimated 300 000 bodies in mass graves in Iraq? According to the BBC: The Europeans, he said, were staying away as the evidence might be used eventually to put Saddam Hussein to death.

Yup...they oppose the death penalty.
