Philippine news

So did the previous US Ambassador and the Obama administration try to overthrow Duterte?

Among the strategies in the supposed Goldberg "blueprint" includes the political and economic isolation of the Philippines, blackmailing neighbouring countries so they would turn against Duterte and reduce the trade with the country, and it is said to call on the US government to employ a socio-economic-political-diplomatic combination against Duterte "to bring him to his knees and eventually remove him from office."

Inquirer story here.

instead, what is happening is Duterte is making nice with China.

I already posted how the vixen with her boy toy bribe collector is being wined and dined in Europe, but now we are finding out why there was a small kerfuffle about our VP in the past few weeks:

From the Inquirer:

Allies of Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday said the 12-point drop in her net satisfaction rating would not deter her from living up to her role as “chief critic” of President Rodrigo Duterte, after declaring weeks ago that she would be the unifying voice of the opposition....

background: The president and the vice president here are voted on separately. Duterte's VP lost to Robredo, who got the sympathy vote because her populist husband  died in a plane crash, even though she was running on a different party ticket.

Years ago, when ERAP (Estrada, a popular actor and outsider) became president, Gloria Arroyo arranged an uprising to unseat him for "corruption". So there is a precedent for Robredo's manipulations.

One reason the US President and VP are on the same ticket is because of similar problems.

one result might be that we will have a Cha Cha to Con Ass.

a charter change in the constitution to a Constitutional assembly type government, similar to the UK.

and yes, the use of these acornyms is deliberate. Everyone here has a nickname too...

Duterte is "the Punisher" or "Dirty Harry"..
