 The rice harvest is poor due to a blight. Many of our farmers who planted the hybrid strain had the same problem. We are organic, so that does complicate matters.

And the price they will get for the rice is low, because the government imported rice to keep the price low for poor people to be able to eat, but which means farmers will suffer. We might break even, but no profit for this second harvest, where the expenses are higher because we need to irrigate in the dry season.

Some good news: Joy is getting an award from the DTI for her work in marketing for the rice coop she runs for local farmers in Bulacan. 

My other good news; Thanks to Turbotax, I got my tax refund. Not a big check but enough to cover the expenses of my son's visit.
