Cookiegate: MSM blows it again...

When BoingBoing (not a friend of the Bushies) defends them from "cookiegate" you know that the MSM is clueless about Webcounters

And they link to this CNET article: LINK

This is yet another alarmist article, decrying the presence of cookies without any explanation of what they are used for and what is stored in them. Blanket statements about cookies are irresponsible. But that is not my real concern here. The bigger issue is ColdFusion, cookies, and "30 year" persistence.

So, what are these "30 year" cookies? Where does that number come from, and what does it actually mean?...

(Article then goes on to explain cookies in a way intelligible to any seventh grader, but probably not to your routine MSM reporter)

By weaving together partial facts, incomplete explanations, and tales of panicked reactions, Declan McCullagh and Anne Broache have traded journalist integrity and technical understanding for ignorant alarmist sensationalism. They should be ashamed of themselves!

As I noted earlier, I HAVE A WEBCOUNTER

As for Cookies, anyone under the age of 30 (even here in the Philippines) knows that you can set your computer browser to refuse cookies, and also periodically delete them ...I use CCleaner myself, (I will let you guess what the first "C" stands for)...it cleans out cookies but I got so tired signing in and out of the NYTimes etc that I set it not to delete cookies routinely...

Hey....I wonder if the MSM knows that the NYTimes is placing 30 year cookies on my computer...

AAAGGGHHH THEY KNOW WHERE YOU ARE THEY ARE COMING>>>>>>
