The TV is showing the crowds inside the sports stadium slowly evacuating...and recorded photos of the wounded...the TV show was supposed to start at 1 pm, an it is now 2 pm...
The crowds of course were kept inside for awhile...some did not understand what had happened...and the crowds outside who did not realize that some had been killed partly blocked the police and rescuers...but now the wounded are being triaged and treated, and the bodies lined up...
The Vice President is there helping, and they are running hotline numbers on the TV...
and the "sky patrol" is showing ambulances leaving...most of those leaving are on foot. And there are still ambulances there, and medics treating minor injuries...
Crowd control is always a problem, and it is not uncommon for one or two people to be killed in crowds for huge demonstrations or religious processions, such as for the Black Nazarene...but this was merely a crowd surge entering a stadium...and most of those hurt were women...
One thing new is that we have news and talk channels on our local cable...(I don't think they are new formats, just new for our cable, which had expanded from 15 to 40 stations over the last year)...
So the reporters are there reporting...and of course, the stampede was at a BIG TV show... the first anniversary for the Game show...which is very popular...so TV was already there...
And the reporters seem to be reporting professionally (although my Tagalog is not good enough to catch everything they say)... however, I am having trouble finding web reports on the tradgedy to link to...
