Bad news: I had wondered why Congressman Murtha decided to go all out in opposing the war, including revealing lurid details of an alleged Marine Massacre. This never made sense to me, since Murtha never had trouble getting reelected in his district and Marines,( like doctors), usually hestitate to pre judge one of their collegues.
Well, it now makes sense: You see, Murtha wants to be majority leader...
Yup....it was for political gain.
Good news: Several reporters have gone on record to say that locals never mentioned any massacre to them, and at least one blog has gone to the trouble of googling the names of those claiming atrocities, and finds some troubling questions...American Thinker summarizes.
BadNews: ABC news sees nothing wrong with releasing the name of the one who outed Zarqawi. Pajamamedia sarcastically comments they are trying to increase the death count by one.
And AnnAlthouse discusses Tom Friedman's warnings to the Democratic left.
Good News: Locally, the ship Mercy is again in Sulu performing a medical mission...after helping earthquake victims in Indonesia...LINK2 LINK3
One doubts Murtha will thank the Marines for their rescue missions... or that the MSM outside of San Diego will even notice it...
UPDATE: John Hughes DID notice. Great column...alas, the Christian Science Monitor is not flashy enough to be a hit, but they often have the most thoughtful commentators and writers on not only the headlines, but the stories behind the headlines...and as a doctor, a Catholic, and someone who has spent years in various backwaters, I must say, they usually get things right...or are willing to print corrections.
Bad News: Blogfather notes that one reason Muslims hate America is not Bush but Hollywood...The most frequent response to the question, "What do you admire least about the West?" was the general perception of moral decay, promiscuity and pornography that pollsters called the "Hollywood image" that is regarded as degrading to women
Good News: Hollywood has their priorities straight....giving a Baptist sponsored movie a PG rating for religious content...
I guess God is the new "F word"....
Bad News: FormerSpook wonders why the press is ignoring Iranian demonstrations...as does Michael Barone...
Good News: Press asks UNsnob why he doesn't know that American newspapers are independent of the government.
Way to go, fellahs...
Finally, the really good news: It's world cup week...and the Philippine stations are barely covering it.
Must be the American heritage...the big headline is about basketball...
