Evacuation near Mayon?

Mayon volcano is a couple hours drive south of Manila (we are a couple hours drive north of Manila). So, although I've seen it and visited near the area, we're not in any danger. (Actually, we're closer to Pinatubo, although there are mountains that protected us from that eruption).

But they are getting ready to evacuate 70 000 people.
So far, the lava has been a slow flow rather than a pyroclastic eruption...but now it's starting to throw lava into the air, endangering people outside the small danger zone that had been evacuated.
