Hyperbole and propaganda

John Leo notes the purple prose in the WAPO about the terrible bombing in Qana...

Ummm...it was an accident, fellahs...due to nearby missle launches.

There has even been three editorials so far in the Manila Bulletin ...well, that's one way to ignore local problems, which is why I posted about Bishop Cruz's letter a couple days ago...

It's always easier to point fingers at those who can't harm you... So Europe is busy blasting Israel because they know that Israel won't riot and burn down their embassies or blow up people in the metro. As for Philippine journalists, well, condemning Israel for shooting back (and sending all those illegal Filippinos back home) gives one a feeling of satisfaction without having to worry about being a target of....well, whoever...(nor is the killing one sided, I should note...)

Which is why there is so much outrage in the USA over Mel Gibson's drunken hyperbole and so little outrage over the Daily Kos poll that found 42% of their readers thought that Israel is a curse...

You see, the difference is that Gibson will sober up and apologize...unlike the Kossacks whose emnity might just get you booted out of office...
