While the headlines are rightly mourning Steve Irwin and the latest violence in Baghdad (without context), I ran into the "news in brief" summary on the UK Times...
Any one of these "brief" news stories could be discussed on a 24 hour news channel. The question is why not.
War in Thailand...who is funding? Malaysia? saudi Charities? AlQuada in Indonesia?
Somalian gov't joins Islamicist in an accord joining their armies. AlQADA Victory?
Naah...if you try to follow the money and ideological threads, you'd get a MEGO (My eyes glaze over) article. And you might have to recognize that there IS a global threat by Islamofascism...must ignore until after the elections...
Right wing government in Czeck republic. what does this mean to the EU? Heck, the US press rarely covers the EU at all...or the implications of a huge independent EU bureaucracy and judiciary to local democracy, although the UK news sometimes mentions it...again, like the UN scandals, the UN and the EU are forces for good, so must ignore the reality...as a result, the only source of this news may be the exaggerated and distroted reports in right wing papers.
Hungarian Nun Honored...a Hungarian nun who hid dozens of Jews and was executed by the Nazis was beatified...nope can't cover that...must only report bad things on Catholic church...after all, Pius XII loved Nazis and didn't know about the 20,000 Jews hidden in Vatican city...
