Chano won first prize for his booth at the trade fair.
You know it is successful when they sell the decorations....some merchant liked how he decorated the booth using long lines of rice hay, so asked to buy some to decorate his store...so they sold it and are getting more to sell to other stores. (the harvest is starting now, so harvest decor is "in").
Lolo and I went down yesterday to visit the fair and eat at the local Japanese restaurant...
Manila wasn't badly damaged by the typhoon, but there was a controversy because some billboards were blown down and hurt people. But few bill boards were "up" when we passed by: Many had their pictures neatly folded up like a fan or curtain and had survived the typhoon. And others had the pictures in shreds. Other than that, no damage seen, at least on the main roads.
