The story how he ended up in Gitmo is straightforward. What the article doesn't ask is why a German born Turk goes to Pakistan end up in Pakistan where he has no family and doesn't speak the language in order to learn about Islam?

Well, he was recruited by Tablighi Jamaat...NYTimes calls it a missionary organization, but many of those recruited for "furthur training" in Pakistan end up as terrorists...LINK
