And the Dan Rather award for being ignorant of fonts goes to....

The showoffs who made The Tomb of someguy names Jesus Film. One of their big claims was that someone with different DNA had the name "Mary the teacher" on it, meaning it was mary Magdalen.

Whoops

a Scholar trained in "paleographics" points out the Mary magdalen inscription was Mary Martha, written by two different hands.LINK has the photos and explanation.
And indeed, even I can see the M, A and P are shaped differently...

Film maker shrugs, and instead of answering the criticism in a scientific way merely answers that the scholars' are jealous for journalists "casting light into their ossuary monopoly."

The problem is that journalists don't tend to know much about fonts and inscriptions. That's how the Dan Rather letters were discovered to be forgeries. The science of fonts and handwriting and inscriptions is a specialty, and I suspect the film makers, like Rather, only used general experts to confirm their findings, not real scholars who specialized in that area.

Right.
