Headlines below the fold

Charges against second marine accused in Haditha should be dropped for lack of evidence says report.
StrategyPage compares it to the non existant "Jenin massacre" stories and the photoshopping in Lebanon.

Marines killed
in the Philippines...they were following AbuSayyaf group kidnappers into the jungles, when the ASG told the local MILF that the marines were there to attack them, so the MILF joined the fight. The good news is that the main ASG head was hurt and his son killed in the fight, and although ABSCBN showed the Muslims complaining the marines broke the truce by trespassing, one suspects they are trying to get publicity so they can avoid payback.

Michale Yon says that the reason the Sunni chiefs now stopped fighting the US and joined forces to get rid of Alqaeda was for the children.

Over here, the fact of al Qaeda murdering children is just that: it’s a fact. How they chose to commit the murders is a variable that changes from incident to incident. I’ve written often about how Iraqis, as a rule, love and greatly value their children. This makes the children especially vulnerable as targets for terrorists. That is a brutal fact.

Carter's role in Zimbabwe...he not only manipulated the polls to let Mugabe win, but ignored the genocide of the Ndebele.
