Is the Pope Catholic?

I was amused/annoyed at a lot of the commentary about both the Latin Mass and the Pope's position on what the church is. Most got it wrong.

GetReligion blog says:Is the pope Catholic? Yes, it appears that he is and it appears that this is news.
Mattingly, as an Orthodox, sees the discussion about what is the meaning of the church and the reality of the sacraments, which in many Protestant churches are diminished to mere symbolism.

Ignatius press blog sardonically predicted that the MSM would merely rehash the whole thing into the template of good liberals vs nasty conservatives who want to push back the clock.
