GM Food fight

Gloria is trying to distribute rice via the Catholic churches for poor people, to prevent abuse.

Bad news: Greenpeace is keeping out US rice because it might (might!) have some GM rice "contamination" in it.And their leftwing collegues in Catholic NGO's won't distribute the rice to the poor.
So what difference are hungry Pinoys when you can feel self righteous about your ecological purity?

Good news: China will probably get around the law and make a profit selling rice.

Americans use GM food, no problem. It's not a toxin problem. And unlike GM Maize, rice is milled, so it can't be planted and crosspollinate native rice.

China is revving up to increase their rice output, and unlike the US, they know how to get around paper work. And although critics are right in saying that the GM rice doesn't produce more rice than traditional grains, what they don't mention is that bugs eat a lot of that traditional grain, and that the GM rice doesn't get eaten---and you don't have to spray expensive toxic chemicals either.
