For those of you who aren't lucky enough to live in a tropical paradise, ScribbitBlog has an article on how to grow the wonderful smelling paperwhite narcissus in your home during the winter.
I used to do this all the time when I lived in Idaho...
I also used to "force" other bulbs, such as daffodils and tulips...but these types need time in a cool dark place for the roots to grow if you want them to bloom...when they sprout up an inch, you can bring them out and let them bloom...
