The Japanese war against China had been going on for years, but today marks the day when Pearl Harbor and Manila were attacked, and the war in the Pacific started.

Ironically, although the attack resulted in thousands of Filipinos who fought against the Japanese dying in the death march, and the occupation of the country, the news papers have little about it today (Dec 8 was when Manila was attacked).
