Science stuff below the fold

One of the nastier pain syndromes is something called "Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy" or Complex Regional Pain syndrome (CRPS)...that can occur after an injury...

Now, they found that giving IV Immune globulin helps...more HERE but you need to register.

Lots of articles but lots of half baked websites about the stuff too.

IV IG has been around for fifty plus years and we used to use it a lot in the past, but were told we were overusing it without "proof" so I haven't given a dose for the last 30 years (except for Kawasaki's disease).
Now it has 150 "off lable" uses, and the article notes a lot of the uses (but not all) seem to have some basis in science.

Heh...like a lot of medicine, we will have to relearn how to invent the wheel.

-----------------
drug resistant TB outbreak in the Marshall Islands...not good news.
Those with it however are not taking precautions against spreading it, so they may have to invoke the old laws to isolate them.
Again, the old is new: back in the 1970's, we used the law for an elderly Native American who refused to take his medicines and was spreading it around...but usually after a year they went back home. With drug resistance, it may be a long time away from family...

and just for nice:
