Stuff below the fold

There is actually a Munster award in Australia.

This year it's being given out to reporters who are best at discussing I mean preaching on global warming.

Oh, George Munster, not Herman?

The latest "green" fad: Giving up bathing.

If you love bedbugs, wait til you get hairlice and body lice.

And the comments that people didn't bathe in the past ignores that they washed daily..."from the head down as far as possible...from the feet up as far as possible...and then they washed possible"

and if they were rich, they used a lot of perfume...

---------------------------------

Trivia note: the reason the Bronze age culture of Mycenae in Greece (i.e. the one that was run by Agamemnon et al) was so rich is because they exported olive oil all over the Mediterranean...and part of this lucrative trade was perfumed oil to wash with in the days.... when you "washed" by oiling yourself and then getting the oil and dirt scraped off.

Lye Soap, however, was invented by the Sumarians, but it was harsh on the skin, so rarely used to clean up the body. Hence the use of soapwort or other plant saponins to wash one's hair.

EHOW has directions on how to make soap from plants such as soapwort and yucca. LINK

The nickname for soapwort was...bouncing Bet...
