Recipe of the day

LAtimes has a bunch of Bread Pudding recipes.

including one using French bread and whiskey.

this one includes Bananas...

and this one is savory, using:

3 cups whole milk

1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary

1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme

1 teaspoon chopped fresh sage

1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 cup ( 1/2 stick) butter, plus additional for buttering the pan

2 ears of fresh sweet corn, kernels removed (about 1 1/2 cups)

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

5 eggs

8 cups stale country white bread, crust on, cut or torn into about half-inch pieces

2 cups grated Gruyère cheese

Actually, we now have a "Pan De Manila" store at the mall to get fresh breads; and the grocery store does carry regular, whole wheat, California Raisen bread, and other popular breads. But the favorite is pandesal...
