I'm listening to a lecture on infectious disease and found out this fact:
How can you tell if the mosquito is the type that gives you malaria?
If it moons you, it is the anopheles mosquito, the type that transmits malaria.
if it bites you with the body parallel to the skin, you only have to worry about Dengue fever etc.
Another factoid: ONLY the female mosquito can give it to you.
and no, we don't have malaria in this area, but lots of dengue, alas.
