Factoid of the day

Nat Geo has an article about the myths of US Independence day LINK

and sorry, National Treasure fans, the Declaration of Independence doesn't include secret messages.

National Treasure is right in saying Charles Carroll of Carrolton was the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence to die.

But National Treasure gets one part wrong:

from Wikipedia:

Charles Carroll was portrayed by actor Terrence Currier in the 2004 film National Treasure starring Nicolas Cage. He is accurately described as the last living signatory of the Declaration of Independence. Although the film does not explicitly state it, it is implied that Carroll died in Washington, D.C.[22] It is inaccurately stated that Carroll was a Mason; Catholics weren't allowed to be members of the Masons...

He was known for his love of both Christianity and the classic virtues of Rome, and there is a new biography out about him "American Cicero"...interview with the author HERE.
