The relatives in London report they are okay....lots of police in the neighborhood...

I rescued three kittens from the ditch the other day: the smallest one died last night despite feeding it with a syringe five times a day...the other two are starting to eat on their own, but one is not doing well. On the other hand, we already have six cats (all strays or kittens of strays) so we really don't need another two. But a rainstorm was coming, and I couldn't let them drown...

The joy of cats is that they bring you presents. Two dead mice this morning in two different bathrooms. Luckily I didn't step on them.

Today is the fiesta for San Lorenzo, the patron saint of our neighborhood. We went to the neighborhood chapel for mass, but left before the parade. Since it is a working day, it was mainly older folks and young women with small kids, who will of course enjoy the parade after mass.
Trivia question: How do you identify San Lorenzo? (St. Lawrence)? He is holding a grill (the way he was martyred). He is popular because as a deacon, his job was to help the poor, and when some thugs asked him to show him where he kept his treasure, he took them into the slum and introduced them to his "treasures"...
