Stuff below the fold

Happy 200th Birthday, Charles Dickens.

Librivox has some of his short works HERE and also has some of his novels for download for your listening pleasure.

I find this speech at the National Prayer breakfast interesting .
Most people outside of the UK don't know about Wilberforce: he was the man behind the Slave Trade Act of 1807...

Metexas not only wrote the biographies of Bonhoeffer and Wilberforce, but he also wrote for Veggietales...

Good news story of the day: the US has removed or helped the Iraqis remove millions of Saddam's landmines from 3.9 million square kilometers of land, and destroying 5 million tons of his munitions.

Clearing all those minefields, and border areas where so many unexploded shells and bombs lay buried, was a big boost for the Iraqi economy. The clearance allowed farming and livestock herds to move back into the border areas.

-----------------------
Factoid of the day: Martha Washington (and quite a few other ladies) were with the Continental Army during the dreadful winter in Valley Forge.

well, who do you think did a lot of the laundry and cooking?

---------------
Another day another disaster: Army is rushing to save those trapped by a landslide...no not in our area.
