A mysterious disease is claiming many victims among the children of northern Uganda, southern Sudan and Tanzania. So far experts have failed to cure or contain it. It affects only children between 5 and 15 years of age causing uncontrollable spasms that leads them to death.

The CDC article is vague...blames it on poor housing and poor health care or maybe an infection with a parasitic worm....
Parasites in the brain can cause epilepsy, but usually you see it on ct scan etc.
but unless it is an autoimmune reaction, I'm not sure what it could be...
