Adventures in Odyssey, a series of children's radio shows from Focus on the Family, is now on internet archives for free download. They tend to be nice G rated stories with a moral for kids.

Or, if you want old fashioned blood and guts, try Spoken Lore (which has an iTunes link) which relates the old fashioned Icelandic sagas (in English)...if you loved the lists of names in the simarillion, you can find where Tolkien got the idea in these sagas....you need a map to figure out who is related to whom.
I'm downloading Egil's saga to listen to now.

Librivox has Viking tales and the Early Kings of Norway.
and these:
  1. Anonymous. "Eirik the Red's Saga" · (readers)
  2. Magnússon, Eiríkr. "Völsungasaga" · (readers)

Related item: was Egil ugly because he had Paget's disease?

more on Paget's disease of the bone HERE...Frank Netter's illustration of the disease HERE.

I think I saw one patient with this disease (for something else: he was under a specialist's care) in 40 years of practice so I am no expert. ..and there is now a treatment for it.
