Smuggling out Poetry

I only know the name of the poet Roy Campbell because he is mentioned in the book "The Inklings"...

The UK Catholic herald has an article on how he smuggled out the letters of the poet/saint John of the cross,  hiding them from the communists during the Spanish civil war, and later translating and publishing them in English. (Amazon link)

Most of the article, by Joseph Pearce (see podcasts on Shakespeare mentioned below) discusses how he ended up in Spain during that country's nasty civil war, but Tolkien link is mentioned toward the end of the article, but I doubt Campbell "inspired" the character of Aragorn, which the article writer claims, since by the time they met in 1944, the outline of the book and the first three books were already written (and he was sending copies of Frodo's slog through Ithilien to Christopher, his son, at the time)...and Aragorn, the "lost king in disguise" is an archtype, has more to do with Alfred the great and other kings in exile than with someone he met after the book was half finished.

Campbell seems to have more in common with Viggo Mortenson than with Aragorn, but that's another story altogether...
