A long discussion at Instapundit about how folks in brownout areas of the US went to McDonalds and Wafflehouse to recharge the batteries of their computers and cellphones.
We have a generator, so no problem (actually I bought a small backup generator for when the first one is out of commission but we often take it to the farm to run the electric so we can mill or dry our rice).
As for his suggestions of hand crank radios for recharging: well, if they work. I have four such radios (which could recharge cellphones) two bought in the US and two bought here, and none of them work. Either the crank wears out or the "rechargable" battery goes dead and I couldn't find a local battery replacement. Presumably if I had bought the really expensive hand-crank radio we wouldn't have problems...so I don't have recommendations for you there.
I suspect a lot of folks will now be using their car airconditioner or cellphone recharger too...
