Dumb idea of the day

An "emergency food kit" that lets poor refugees grow and eat locusts.

The reason I said it was "dumb" is that although Africans might supplement the diet with insects, the insects are not a major source of protein, and of course, there is the problem of getting the folks enough calories....

However, I did check and locusts (unlike other insects) are halal...

The "survivalists" in my Idaho National Guard unit used to eat them, and of course, the story of the seagulls who ate the "mormon crickets" is a legend that led to the SeaGull statue in Salt Lake City.
