Stuff below the fold

Rosanne needs to update her bigotry from "why back Israel when they don't have oil" to "no blood for oil a country with a huge natural gas field nearby".
Houston-based Noble Energy, which is working with several Israeli partner companies, said that the field, named Leviathan, whose existence was suspected months ago, has at least 16 trillion cubic feet of gas at a likely market value of tens of billions of dollars and should turn Israel into an energy exporter.

A scholar of Chinese culture tells you why those defending China's totalitarian regime by using the idea of "Confucian values" are wrong:
The notion that China’s future must inevitably be found in its past, after all, is not particularly liberating, especially when one considers that this past represents a period prior to accountability in governance and recognition of human rights. Anyone who proposed a similar framework for the future of a western country, or even for such traditionally Confucian – but democratic – neighbors of China as South Korea, Japan, or Taiwan, would not be taken seriously.

Harvard researcher who "proved" monkeys could learn language faked his experiments.

the backstory of this is that the new trends in philosophy are trying to destroy the line between animals and human beings, denying human exceptionalism so they can justify abortion/euthanasia of babies and older folks who are brain damaged (who lack "cognition")(and save lots of taxpayer money) while pushing animal rights.

and if you don't think this is a dangerous trend, it's because you haven't been following medical ethics.

Terrible crime in the Swiss Alps may have been a political hit against an Iraqi with a British passport.

the UKTelegraph says it might have been a "family feud", not political, but the UKMail says someone was watching him...
