Family news

the sister of a neighbor died of a heart attack last week, and the funeral will be held this afternoon, since her mother arrived from Japan yesterday. Very sad since she was only in her 40's.

the custom is to have open house until the funeral, and at night it meant playing music from 7 to 11 pm every night as part of the vigil. The music was nice, but sad (mainly "easy listening" songs, some from a small quartet and singer, others seems to be taped/kareoke style singing.) That kept me from sleeping well, but after two days the dogs ignored it so it was a bit better.

Today, they have the full band, which will march to the church and cemetary. Sometimes they use a horse drawn carriage for this.

The band seems to have limited number of songs they know how to play, because for the last hour they have been playing Christmas carols....

I'll be going later with Joy to the funeral: Chano is not feeling well, and it's too hot for Lolo...
