Is our universe a simulation?
The significant point is that the simulation is almost indistinguishable from reality, as much as we understand of it. This is one of the reasons why some physicists consider the possibility that our entire Universe could be running on a vastly powerful computer network. Silas Beane et al. say that there are ways to see if we are being simulated, in certain scenarios.
much of the article is about the science behind the quest, but the philosophical question is: Is stuff real?

Western science is based on the Christian idea that reality is real (and made by the creator, independent of him, and not part of him, as in pantheism)
.
Some eastern religions posit a world where stuff is not real, just an illusion.
