Yet equality of women has to recognize that women, like men, are most productive and happy when they can leave work for a stable home, which includes a family and that means marriage.  I remember when Betty Frieden, the mother of modern feminism, was almost thrown out of NOW because she wrote a book saying hey, women want families and most women like men, and we should seek out social policies that support that reality.

yes. When  I had an unmarried couple in my office, and I asked the man about their relatsionship, he said she was my girlfriend, but she said "He is my fiance"...

Screenwriter Roger L Simon comments on the upcoming debates:

I suspect Jim Lehrer understood this, at least to some degree, when he eased back on his moderation of the first debate. He did not want to make himself the story.
