The water pump broke last night...the gears went.
No spare parts because it is too old, so Dennis, the handiman/driver arranged for a machine shop to retool the gears.
The good news: it is now working.
The Bad news: It is noisy, about 90 db...
so now after 24 hours we have running water and can shower etc without using a bucket.
Tomorrow, we'll probably look for another pump.
