Women in Saudi are not allowed to drive, and not allowed in a car with a stranger who is not a relative or an official driver.
But Uber, which has been in that country for 3 years, is making it easier for some.
Will uber make it easier for them to get around? yes, but mostly for the more sophisticated among them....80percent of uber users are women....
I read an article years ago how this lack of transportation frustrated the middle class, since rich women had personal drivers and the middle class had to wait for their husbands to get home to drive them around to shop/visit or force the husbands to shop after a full day's work.
