Factoid of the day

LATimes: Bats fly faster than birds.

the common swift held the previous speed record  (112 km/hr), but the Brazilian free-tailed bat has been found to be faster.(160 km/hr in level flight).


one difference is that the bat can change the stiffness of it's wing.

and of course, what about the tails? Science daily says it reduces drag and increases stability.
