Folk Tales and tricksters

I mentioned in an earlier post about the Brer rabbit tales,  came from African folk tales.

Here is the Philippine version of the Tar-baby tale.

We don't have bitumin so he covers the statue with sticky wax. Since it mentions corn, i.e. maize, I suspect it was a "late" version, perhaps passed on by the Spanish or their slaves..

and there are Native American, South Asian and South African versions of the tale.
